Manage Public Works WSIB claims and non-occupational absences. Coordinate Attendance Management Program duties for PWES. Primary Duties and Accountabilities Assess and develop training programs; instruct employees in operating procedures and safe work practices, ensuring employees meet mandatory training requirements. Conduct and/or coordinate training programs for employees, e.g. CPR, first aid, chainsaw, line clearing, trenching, traffic control, propane handling, wastewater, etc. Champion and oversee Learning Management System for Public Works and Engineering training. Research and review the services/products of various training providers to recommend the purchase or modification of suitable external training to meet identified needs, where required. Process WSIB claims; follow up with WSIB adjudicators and the Corporate Return-to-Work Coordinator on return-to-work plans for employees, appeals, etc. Manage non-occupational absences with Returnto-Work (RTW) Coordinator and third-party adjudicator. Compile statistics and reports; training activity, costs, data entry, manage and file training documentation and records. Ensure all accidents/incidents are documented by Supervisors; provide reports. In conjunction with the RTW Coordinator, chair Department disability case management meetings. Liaise with the Health & Safety Coordinator, ensuring compliance with health and safety best practices. Act as a resource to the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Provide recruitment support to the Public Works hiring manager, e.g. pre-screen, testing, interviews, and reference checks. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Citys health and safety policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications College Diploma in a related field, e.g. Occupational Health and Safety, Health & Safety Management, Human Resources, etc. Three years related experience, e.g. Health & Safety, Training, etc. in a unionized environment. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is an asset. Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, e.g. Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, etc. Valid class G drivers license. Computer literacy with software programs, and Microsoft experience in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Communicate in an effective and tactful manner with various levels of staff. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a range of stakeholders. Organize time and tasks efficiently. Ability in decision-making and problem-solving. Working knowledge of Parklane Software is an asset. Valid First Aid and C.P.R. certification is an asset.
