SSM has garnered a hard-earned reputation for customer service, quality and reliability. To support its growth and expansion, we are looking to add a Buyer/Logistics Coordinator to our team. The Buyer/ Logistics Coordinator supports both procurement and logistics functions, ensuring timely acquisition of direct and indirect materials and efficient coordination of outbound shipments. This role is essential in maintaining supply continuity, optimizing costs, and upholding quality standards across the supply chain. Location: 2234 Portland St SE, Calgary Alberta. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Purchasing: Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for direct and indirect materials. Request and compare supplier quotes; confirm pricing, lead times, and order details. Follow up with suppliers daily to track order status and ensure timely delivery. Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to prevent stockouts or overstocking. Maintain accurate ERP data for POs, pricing, confirmations, and delivery dates. Resolve issues such as shortages, incorrect shipments, or quality concerns. Maintain accurate records of open POs, backorders, and pending approvals. Communicate delays, risks, or supply constraints to operations team and sales team. Supplier Coordination: Communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm order status, production progress, and delivery timelines. Track supplier performance metrics such as ontime delivery, responsiveness, and pricing accuracy. Validate pricing on invoices against PO and resolve discrepancies. Maintain supplier price lists and update cost data in ERP systems. Logistics & Shipping: Plan and schedule outbound shipments based on production readiness and customer requirements. Track shipments, communicate delays, and coordinate with carriers for ontime delivery. Prepare freight RFQs and evaluate quotes for cost and service. Generate shipping documents including bills of lading, packing slips, and customs paperwork for U.S. crossborder shipments. Inventory & Internal Support: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid stockouts. Work with operations, engineering, and warehouse teams to support material needs. Assist with invoice matching and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and accounting. Required Education & Qualifications Able to assess data, compare quotes, evaluate risks, and support decisionmaking. Ensures accuracy in documentation, pricing, and system updates. Clear, professional communication with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams. Quickly identifies issues and implements practical solutions with minimal disruption. Manages multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. Works effectively with crossfunctional teams such as operations, engineering, finance, and warehouse. Able to work with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability. Experience working in a fastpaced, deadlinedriven environment with shifting priorities preferably in manufacturing industries. Proficiency in ERP systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting. Solid working knowledge of Excel for data analysis and reporting.
