With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a dynamic school board and is accepting applications for the position of Supply International Language Instructor. The Board maintains a roster of temporary/casual staff for assignment to cover employee absences. Supply staff are assigned from a pool on an as-needed basis.All interested applicants are welcome to apply. We are an inclusive employer.We are currently accepting applications for instructors for the following languages:Cantonese, Croatian, Filipino, Hungarian, Igbo, Italian, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Tigrinya-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------DutiesProviding a safe, positive, inclusive and respectful learning environment for all studentsExhibit professional conduct in accordance with all TCDSB policies and procedures (e.g. Safe Schools, Health and Safety, Respectful Workplace, etc.)Develop goal-based daily lesson plans that reflect the Ministry's International Education Strategy, TCDSB Curriculum Documents and other current relevant resourcesDevelop students' knowledge and skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in the target language, inclusive of cultural componentConduct student progress reportingRecord and maintain, accurate and up-to-date attendance registers, and report on attendance as requiredCollaborate with administration, school staff and school community in the best interest of student success and well beingPerform other duties as assigned or requiredQualifications/ExperienceHigh School Diploma plus additional teacher training/or training in language teaching methodologies; university degree preferred Teaching Degree/experience from other countries will be consideredLanguage teaching experience in the Canadian classroomAbility to read, write and speak fluently in the target languageAbility to develop daily lesson plan and execute lessons for students with varying abilities and language skillsAbility to work collaboratively with othersSuccessful candidates must be a practicing Roman Catholics verified through a Pastoral Reference letter from a Parish Priest-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Who We AreOur mission at TCDSB is to inspire learning - in every way - and support our students and employees.Employees who work in our corporate setting are passionate and have a strong belief in our mission and making TCDSB a leader in public education.
