Job Title Maintenance Supervisor / Engineering Supervisor Property Element by Westin Calgary Airport/Four Points By Sheraton Calgary Airport Department Engineering / Facilities Reports To Chief Engineer / General Manager Position Summary The Maintenance Supervisor at Element by Westin Calgary Airport/Four Points By Sheraton Calgary Airport is responsible for supervising daily maintenance and engineering operations to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for guests and associates. This role supports Element by Westin/Four Points and Marriott International brand standards, with a strong focus on sustainability, preventive maintenance, and guest well-being in an extended-stay hotel environment. Key Responsibilities Operations & Preventive Maintenance Supervise and participate in daily maintenance operations for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and exterior facilities Execute and monitor preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, kitchen, laundry, and life-safety systems Maintain extended-stay room features including kitchenettes, appliances, and in-room systems Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and emergency situations Leadership & Supervision Directly supervise, schedule, and assign work to maintenance team members Provide hands-on technical support, coaching, and training Conduct performance evaluations and address performance or conduct issues in line with company policies Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling of maintenance associates and contractors Safety, Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety regulations, WHMIS, fire code, and local building standards Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure timely corrective actions Maintain and test life-safety systems including fire alarms, sprinklers, emergency lighting, and generators Enforce safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment Sustainability & Brand Standards Support Element by Westin sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation programs Monitor building systems to optimize energy usage and reduce operating costs Ensure facilities meet Element and Marriott brand standards at all times Assist with brand audits, inspections, and compliance reporting Financial & Asset Management Assist in managing departmental expenses and maintenance budgets Control inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies Coordinate and oversee vendor and contractor services Support capital projects, room refreshes, and brand-mandated renovations Guest Experience & Cross-Department Collaboration Work closely with Housekeeping and Front Office teams to minimize room downtime Proactively identify and resolve facility issues that could impact guest comfort or safety Contribute to a positive guest experience by ensuring prompt and professional service Qualifications & Experience 24 years of hotel maintenance or facilities experience, preferably in an extended-stay or full-service hotel (200+ rooms) Prior supervisory experience in a non-union environment preferred Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems Experience maintaining in-room appliances and kitchen equipment considered an asset Hotel experience preferred Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and people-management skills Hands-on technical troubleshooting ability Excellent organizational and time-management skills Effective verbal and written communication Proficiency with CMMS and basic computer applications Physical & Work Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical maintenance tasks Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and on-call shifts as required Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces Job Type: Full-time Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Benefits: Dental care Extended health care On-site parking Work Location: In person
