Job Description

Position Summary: Wasauksing First Nation is accepting applications for Team Support. We are looking for compassionate, caring and self-driven individuals to join the shelter and transitional housing team. Under the direct supervision of the Shelter & Transitional Housing Manager, the Team Support Safe Home and Transition Homes assists with administrative duties that require a high degree of self-motivation, independent work skills and organization. They work as a part of a multi-functional team where members are expected to possess knowledge, respect, and sensitivity to the Anishinaabe culture and those affected by domestic violence. The Team Support will also provide a warm welcome as the first point of contact for clients accessing services. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Be a leader in maintaining a warm, welcoming, respectful, and non-judgmental environment, while ensuring the support and security of staff, volunteers and guests and preserving the dignity of all persons by communicating in a calm, welcoming, and professional manner. Maintain front desk coverage for the shelter, answering phone calls, doors, greeting visitors and residents, answering all general email inquiries and providing referrals to appropriate staff. The Shelter values and protects the confidentiality of client information. All staff are to ensure clients personal information is safeguarded appropriately. Maintain cleanliness of desk area, entrance, and common spaces. All staff are to monitor the cleanliness of the staff washroom and connect with the custodian as appropriate Support Manager in maintaining staff inventory and supplies, follow up with maintenance work orders and assist with all aspects of program operation. Respond to general inquiries, receive, forward and distribute telephone, facsimiles, email and messages appropriately. Prepare for staff meetings. Perform timely service in filing and supply organization Perform other duties as necessary. Adhere to all policies and procedures of Wasauksing First Nation and any other relevant policies and procedures from external agencies and partners Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor Maintain accurate tracking and reporting of departmental data. Accomplish tasks as assigned, maintain records, and produce reports as required. Ability to use multiple technologies and software programs, including Google, email, spreadsheet, photocopier and general office equipment. Maintain Office Supplies and other products used in the building. Responsible for participating in Wasauksing First Nation Health and Safety programs and procedures. Maintains upkeep of Medicine table (for medicine pouch making/smudging), including informing the program coordinator of supply needs. Attend all staff meetings. Receive Donation/Mail/Parcel deliveries, document and file. Stay observant of the environment and provide calming intervention. Provide appropriate support to shelter guests while maintaining Shelter policies and Codes of Conduct. Share innovative program ideas to enhance support services. Education & Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position is considered an asset. Experience working with Anishinaabe social services. Experience in residential settings is an asset. Previous experience working within a customer service environment is an asset. Experience working directly in front-line social service delivery is an asset. On-the-job training may be provided. Other Requirements: Willing to obtain: First aid & CPR; Non-violent crisis intervention; Trauma informed care Valid Driver''s License and reliable personal vehicle Willing to work flexible hours as required, including evenings and weekends To protect children, youth and vulnerable persons, Wasauksing First Nation requires the individual to provide a vulnerable sector.
