Calgary Zone PCA, Calgary, Southport NEW Nursing - Student PRI 6 hours ago Your Opportunity: As an Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) in the Immunization Services and Rapid Response program, you will be administering Influenza and COVID-19 immunizations within the Calgary area to all client populations in a safe manner. The Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for a UNE to develop further competency in the range and complexity of a Registered Nurse (RN). The UNE is an unregulated member of the inter-professional health care team who provides Patient Centered Care with the supervision of an RN. As an Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) you will be a resource in the clinic regarding practice standards, processes, skills and competencies. You will have the opportunity to provide guidance, education, support and consultation. You will use your energetic persona along with your knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to patient and family centered care to excel in this position. Description: The Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for the nursing student employed as a UNE to consolidate the knowledge and skill acquired in their approved nursing education program towards competency in the range and complexity of Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) practice. The UNE is an unregulated member of the collaborative health care team who provides patient centred care with the supervision of the RN or RPN. The nursing activities performed, and level of supervision required are determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by regulatory colleges, Primary Care Alberta (PCA) policy, educational preparation, practice setting, complexity of the patient, level of risk involved, and competency of the UNE. Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR) certificate. Successful completion of 3rd year of an RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or currently in the final year of an after-degree RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or successful completion of 2nd year of an RPN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RPN education program. Additional Required Qualifications: Lift/carry supplies up to a minimum of 30 lbs. Ability to raise arms to shoulder height in repetitive movement and use fine motor hand coordination required for immunization. Ability to bend, twist, kneel and respond safely and quickly to a variety of emergency situations. Independently perform the skills of a certified BLS provider. Sit, stand for a minimum of 30 minutes. Work within outreach sites that have no consistent ergonomic setup. Effective and efficient time management. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients from various cultures, ages, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills. Conduct contemporaneous electronic documentation at the point of care. Able to exercise critical thinking and nursing judgment in a fast paced and stressful environment. Preferred Qualifications: You have experience and training working with clients from diverse cultures across the lifespan. Physically able to perform all duties in all practice settings, including but not limited to carry and porter equipment and supplies to alternative sites.
