Were seeking a mechanical-focused Senior Capital Planning Consultant to lead mechanical system assessments, reserve fund studies, and capital planning projects for multi-residential, commercial, and community buildings. This position is for a current vacancy based in our Dundas or Cambridge office. KEY RESULT AREAS FOR THIS ROLE Capital Planning Mechanical Focus Independently complete mechanical capital planning assignments, including Reserve Fund Studies (RFS), Property Condition Assessments (PCA), and Performance Audits (PA), under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Manager. Lead mechanical site reviews, assess existing building systems, and prepare component-level condition assessments and repair recommendations. Develop mechanical system repair options, cost estimates, and long-term replacement strategies for multi-residential and commercial properties. Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and related documentation including condominium declarations, by-laws, and legal survey drawings as they relate to mechanical systems. Apply a strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Tarion Construction Performance Guidelines, property standards by-laws, and condominium legislation relevant to mechanical systems. Support project delivery by managing assigned scopes in alignment with established budgets, schedules, and quality expectations. Project Excellence Prepare and review mechanical deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and alignment with client objectives. Support contract administration activities related to mechanical systems, including coordination with contractors and consultants as directed. Assist with resolving mechanical system-related issues during conciliation periods by providing clear technical input and practical recommendations. Apply sound engineering judgment to develop efficient, constructable, and cost-effective solutions. Maintain well-organized documentation, field notes, and working files in accordance with Edison standards. Client Management & Collaboration Contribute to strong client relationships through reliable technical delivery and professional communication. Respond promptly to client inquiries related to assigned mechanical scopes and follow through on commitments. Participate in client meetings and site visits alongside Project Managers, representing Edison professionally. Collaborate closely with internal team members to support project success and consistent service delivery. Seek and incorporate feedback to improve technical output and client experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED Knowledge Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering environment with a focus on mechanical building systems. Demonstrated experience supporting capital planning services, including reserve fund studies and building condition assessments. Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems in existing buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems. Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, condominium legislation, and mechanical system performance standards. Skills Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a high level of technical accuracy and attention to detail. Communication: Produces clear, concise technical reports and communicates effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams. Interpersonal Relations: Collaborative, professional, and respectful; values teamwork and shared accountability. Planning & Organization: Effectively manages multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines. Adaptability & Initiative: Works independently while appropriately escalating issues and adapting to changing project conditions. Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant engineering and analysis software. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Competitive Base Salary: Annual salary of $70,000 $85,000, commensurate with experience.
