Description The Construction Officer in this role will be required to provide subject matter expertise at the planning stages for upcoming building demolition projects. Provide input to constructability reviews. Provide input to RFPs for upcoming demolition contracts and will also be able to provide on site construction oversight once on site work begins, include safety and contract management. May be required to fulfill the role of qualified coordinator. Responsibilities 1. Planning & Subject Matter Expertise Provide high-level technical expertise during the planning and design stages for upcoming building demolition projects. Lead constructability reviews to identify potential site constraints, hazardous material risks, and logistical challenges. Collaborate with procurement teams to provide technical input and scope definition for Requests for Proposals (RFPs). 2. On-Site Oversight & Coordination Act as the primary site coordinator and inspector, ensuring contractors meet all specifications and regulatory requirements. Manage on-site construction activities for multiple or large-scale civil and mechanical projects. Fulfill the role of Qualified Coordinator, ensuring seamless integration between different work groups and trades. 3. Safety & Environmental Leadership Prioritize the safe execution of work by performing regular Safe Work Observations. Ensure all site activities comply with WorkSafeBC regulations and s internal safety performance standards. Navigate challenging site conditions, including adverse weather, working at heights, or underground environments. 4. Contract & Work Order Administration Inspect work progress and materials to ensure they meet the rigorous standards of . Coordinate site testing, surveying, and estimating activities using engineering drawings. Maintain professional communication with internal stakeholders and third-party contractors to ensure projects are implemented as planned. Qualifications 7 years of construction experience, with significant Demolition and Equipment removals experience Experience with providing input to constructability reviews. Experience with providing input to RFPs for upcoming demolition contracts Experience with safety and contract management Class 5 drivers license and Own personal vehicle Nice to haves: RFP development experience Education and Skills: Diploma in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology from an Institute of Technology or relevant trades, apprenticeship courses, or equivalent Excellent working knowledge of safety standards and regulations such as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and WorkSafe Regulations Advanced English skills for a professional environment, written and spoken Additional Information Ability to provide on-site construction oversight once on site work begins, including safety and contract management Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
