Job Description

Overview We are seeking a friendly and efficient Food Service Counter Attendant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing food items, and managing transactions in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Prior restaurant or food industry experience is preferred but not required, as training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in food handling, cashiering, and customer service. Duties Greet customers warmly and take their orders accurately using POS systems Prepare and assemble food items according to established standards and safety guidelines Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and basic math calculations Upsell menu items to enhance customer experience and increase sales Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas in compliance with food safety regulations Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed to guarantee quality and safety Manage time effectively to serve customers promptly during busy periods Restock supplies and ensure the counter area is organized and presentable at all times Assist in opening or closing duties as assigned, including sanitation and inventory checks Skills Experience in food preparation, cashiering, or serving in a restaurant or food service environment preferred Familiarity with POS systems Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor Excellent time management abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and proper food handling techniques Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy Ability to work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail Kitchen experience or background in the food industry is a plus but not mandatory Upselling skills to promote menu items and enhance customer satisfaction Expectations: Wear a clean uniform Ensure entire steamer and soup table area is sufficiently stocked Prepare area related items as per orders Co-ordinate line activity during shift Quality control: final check before food is given to cook Prep menu items according to par levels Minimize wastage Keep line area clean and safe Closing duties Assist with dishwashing and garbage removal Line Set Up: Ensure all steam area and related items are fully stocked to meet the requirements of the par levels and line check Restock reach-in and walk-in when necessary Restock line when necessary Ensure all utensils, dishware and handout items (napkins etc) are sufficiently stocked for line area Check that fryer, woks, soup heaters, hoods are turned on and functional report any malfunctions to Manager Check availability and quality of all line items using the ''Line Check'' prior to each meal period take corrective action when necessary Coordination of Line Activity: Communicate all orders as they come in on printer Co-ordinate line cooking by directing other positions to prepare foods by request to that entire order is completed at the same time (soups, side kicks and stir-fry''s) Ensure all items are cooked promptly when called (ideal ticket times are less than 10 minutes) Use time efficiently so that several orders can be prepared at once Work other line positions as required Quality Control: Ensure all foods are properly portioned as specified in the Prep Manual Check quality of food continually to ensure good presentation (both cooked and pre-cooked food) Ensure everything is dated and labelled Minimize Wastage: Prepare items only to assigned prep levels; especially veggies, proteins and noodles Portion all foods to Prep Manual Specifications Use Preparation Methods as specified in Prep Manual Record wastage accurately on Wastage Sheet Keep Prep / Kitchen Area Clean and Safe: Use over mitts, tongs etc to handle hot foods and dishes Clean and sanitize all equipment after use to prevent bacterial contamination Put away all utensils, food products etc, after line operation Sweep floor occasionally for appearance and safety Wipe up spills immediately Assist with dishwashing and garbage removal Assist with putting away deliveries Assist with the duties listed on the weekly cleaning schedule Closing Duties: Dismantle, clean and sanitize line equipment according to specified procedures Transfer all foods to clean inserts; ensure all food items are covered and refrigerated Ensure line is clean and ready for next day This position is ideal for motivated individuals seeking to grow their career within the food service industry while providing exceptional service to our customers.
