Sector: Health care and social assistance Posting Date: January 29, 2026 Closing Date: Feb 28, 2026 Location: New Roots Clinic Hours Per Week: Permanent, Full time - 37.5 hours a week Schedule: Rotating Monday Saturday, 9am-5pm Salary Or Wage: $41.42 to $55.91 per hour Job Type: Full Time List of Requirements Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Minimum 1 year experience in mental health and substance use nursing, plus 1 year in community health or primary care. Completion of BCCSU Addiction Care Online Training Certificate and Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program modules. Certificates in CPR, First Aid, BCCDC Immunizations, phlebotomy, transportation of dangerous goods, and advanced wound care. Valid BC Drivers License required. Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance. List of Duties The Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides direct clinical support to participants at the iOAT Clinic by delivering evidence-based interventions, administering medications, and promoting harm reduction practices. The role contributes to participant well-being by establishing therapeutic relationships, supporting trauma-informed and culturally safe care, and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to reduce toxic drug poisonings and improve health outcomes. Direct nursing care for substance use disorders (iOAT, OAT, safe supply, adjunct meds). Pre-administration nursing assessments; ongoing monitoring of medication response. Phlebotomy, wound care, vitals; focused & general assessments; point-of-care testing (pregnancy/urine). Harm-reduction education, naloxone training, HCV/HIV testing & counselling. Trauma-informed, culturally safe practice; de-escalation and recovery-oriented support. Client-centred care planning; prioritization and revision of plans based on status. Care transitions & outreach for hard-to-reach clients; referral coordination. Interdisciplinary collaboration (MDs, nurses, ICM, SW, outreach, housing, counsellors, primary care). Professional communication, confidentiality, and dignity in all interactions. EMR documentation & MAR/paper charting accuracy; data/report preparation. Safety practices (violence prevention, infection control, OH&S); equipment checks. Required to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
