Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health, Safety and Compliance, the Health, Safety & Risk Coordinator supports the implementation and daytoday operation of Niagara Parks Occupational Health & Safety and risk management programs. Niagara Parks offers an annual salary range of $78,850.67 to $94,234.08 for this position, along with comprehensive benefits and a defined benefit pension plan. Qualifications Post Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Business Administration or Risk Management. Certified Risk Management (CRM) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CSRP) designation considered an asset. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in risk management. Experience with insurance appraisals, investigations, and exceptional communication and relationship management skills. Negotiation and contract negotiation skills. Excellent business planning and presentation skills. Strong ethical standards and integrity. Demonstrated knowledge of health, safety, compliance, risk & insurance management programs. Foundational knowledge of Ontario OHSA and worker safety principles. Strong interest in risk management, insurance, and loss prevention. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage documentation and data accurately. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft365 (Excel, Word, Teams). Ability to work collaboratively in a publicsector, unionized, and visitorfocused environment. Key Activities Health and Safety and Compliance Assist with the implementation of Niagara Parks Occupational Health & Safety Management System in compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations. Participate in workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments across operational, maintenance, attractions, and publicfacing environments. Support the investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses; assist with root cause analysis and corrective action tracking. Develop and revise recommended procedures and methods based on incident data to improve safety and loss prevention. Measure and evaluate efficiencies and effectiveness of the safety and environment program using established goals. Coordinate and consult with regulatory officials in the event of an incident to ensure compliance with requirements and orders. Maintain accurate health and safety documentation, including inspection records, training records, and incident reports. Assist with emergency preparedness activities, drills, and response planning. Support safe work procedures and operational risk controls in collaboration with supervisors and employees. Provide logistical and administrative support to Joint Health & Safety Committees, including inspections, meeting minutes, and tracking of recommendations. Assist with the coordination and delivery of health and safety training, orientations, and refresher sessions. Help to develop safety communications such as safety alerts, toolbox talks, posters, and internal messaging. Risk Management and Insurance Support general liability guest incident claims and documentation, including coordination with internal stakeholders and external partners. Oversee loss control and loss mitigation, including routine adjudication of claims and interface with the companys Legal department on litigation and administrative proceedings. Manage key operational compliance activities to reduce overall risk and exposure for the organization, including maintenance and record keeping of inspections and incident investigations of third parties. Identify, analyze and classify operational and insurable risks for financial impact to the corporation and support insurance renewals. Manage the fleet vehicles safety program, vehicle license validation and abstracts for all operators of CVOR vehicles on a regular basis. Help track contractor and vendor insurance compliance, including certificates of insurance (COIs). Assist the organization with the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management program and Business Continuity activities. Process invoices related to insurance claims and adjusting services. Assist with documentation tracking for Niagara Parks Minimum Maintenance Standards. Continuous Improvement & Safety Culture Promote a positive and proactive safety culture aligned with Niagara Parks values. Support data collection, analysis, and reporting on leading and lagging safety indicators. Participate in safety initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement projects as assigned. Directing/Supervision Provide leadership for minimizing corporate risk and ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations. Guide employees participating in a discovery process to address a claims issue. Provide technical guidance, advice and assistance to the staff, as required. Performs Other Related Duties Maintain required professional designations and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies. Perform additional duties beyond normal working hours, especially during emergencies and Niagara Parks events. Other duties as assigned.
