Job Description

Mercury is looking for a dynamic Senior Controller with great businessacumenand technical skills.Reporting to the COO/CFO, theSeniorController leads the accounting operations of the organization and develops and manages the underlying accounting processes that provide detailed historic, current, and future data on the organizations operations and financial performance. Theywarrantythe accounting process and the resulting data to the CEO and key stakeholders in the organization.They alsointerpretdata and provide key information to support decision making. Role and Responsibilities Responsible for completion offull cycleaccounting, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payable, payroll andreconciliations Responsible for bi-weekly payroll processes,approvalsand corresponding filings& administration Preparation and analysis ofconsolidatedcompanyandconsolidatefinancial resultsrequiredforfinancial managementandcompliancerequirements Coordination,preparationand reviewofmonthly,quarterlyand annual reports Coordination of tax returns information Maintenanceofchartof accounts and division assignments Support treasury managementneeds forcash flow and forecasts Management ofactivities withfinancial institutions andbuild relationships withkey industry contacts Managementall financial compliancerequiredfor tax (Federal, Provincial, Payroll, Production/SR&EDand other applicable taxes) Developmentandmaintainingall necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting Maintenance of recordsin accordance withGAAP Support CFO in financial planning and results management Strengthen internal controls related to process and core systems Build & develop accounting/finance departmentteamwhich includescontinuouslearning and use of new tools Skills & Qualifications 5-7years of accountingand auditexperience minimum CPA Designation Strong knowledge of financial reporting and compliance Experience in budgeting and forecasting Highly proficient in Excel, manipulatinglarge amountsof data between multiple sheets and workbooks including advanced formulas and techniques (Lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.) In depth experience usingQuickbooksincluding customizing reports, editing companysettingsand adding list items Strong communicationand time management skills. Responsive, reliable, highly organized, extremely detail-oriented, andexhibitsa strong workethic Exceptionally discreet and reliable in handlinghighly sensitiveand confidentialinformation University Degree in Accounting Must be a Canadian citizen and an Ontario resident (for tax credit purposes) Must be able available to work inofficeon a hybrid basis What would make you stand out CPA designation in progress or recently completed Project accounting experience in thefilm & television,manufacturingor constructionsector Experience with cost reports, costtrackingand budgeting Experience working with big data in excel or financial analysis Public accounting experience Mercury Filmworks places as great an emphasis on recruiting for character and fit as it does on core skills and experience.
