Sounds amazing, doesnt it? Role Summary The Accounting Specialist keeps our finances accurate and on track. They handle transactions, reconcile accounts, and support reporting while ensuring compliance with policies and standards. Their work provides the insights and clarity the business needs to make smart financial decisions. Responsibilities Include Prepare, reconcile, and analyze accounts, ledgers, and financial statements Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes Support system upgrades or implementation of new financial tools Process invoices, expense reports, and payments accurately and on time Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with clients/customers as needed Ensure vendor and customer accounts are reconciled regularly Support external audits and provide necessary documentation and reconciliations Identify gaps or inefficiencies in accounting processes and suggest improvements Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities by preparing schedules or reports Respond to accounting inquiries from management, auditors, or other departments You are Equipped with 5+ year of experience in an accounting role A university graduate (business degrees preferred) Experienced working with general ledger systems Knowledgeable of accounting standards and production of financial statements Experienced performing account reconciliations, posting journal entries, producing financial statements, and AP/AR transactions A highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative Well organized and invested in the details Resourceful when it comes to solving problems A critical thinker able to manage complex information Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously Confident and able to exercise sound judgment What We Offer Competitive benefits and paid time off Energetic, driven, fun culture Smart, collaborative team members The ability to work remotely A competitive salary commensurate with your experience A chance to reduce the carbon footprint and work toward a cleaner energy future in Nova Scotia!
