The Opportunity As a Junior Archaeologist , youll work directly with experienced Field Directors/Supervisors to complete surveys, shovel tests, excavations, and monitoring under provincial permits. Youll gain hands-on CRM experience, GIS-enabled data collection skills, and exposure to artifact handling and report supportideal for launching your BC archaeology career. What Youll Do Conduct pedestrian survey, STF programs, test excavations, and construction monitoring (HCA/permit compliance) under direction of senior staff Work respectfully and collaboratively with Indigenous partners and community members Capture accurate field notes, GPS points, photos, and digital forms (e.g., ArcGIS Field Maps/Survey123) Assist with artifact documentation, cataloguing, and basic lab tasks Support desktop research and contributions to summary notes/figures for reports Uphold Synergys Safety First culture and follow site/client procedures Travel for field programs; work in variable weather/terrain with hotel or camp overnights as required You Bring BA/BSc (or in final term) in Archaeology/Anthropology (BC CRM focus an asset) Ability to perform strenuous fieldwork (uneven terrain, lifting/carrying, manual excavation) Team mindset, professionalism, and strong work ethic Valid Class 5 drivers licence and clean abstract Current First Aid (or willingness to obtaintraining support provided) Respect for cultural heritage and enthusiasm for learning in the field Nice-to-Have Assets Familiarity with BC archaeology , HCA processes, and permit structures GPS/data collection apps and basic ArcGIS/QGIS skills Experience operating 44/UTV/ATV and towing light trailers Strong field documentation habits (notes, photography, artefact recording) Safety tickets such as CSTS/PCST, Bear Awareness, WHMIS, H2S, TDG (or willingness to obtain) What Youll Get $27$35/hr DOE + OT where applicable Per diems/LOA, paid travel time, hotels/camp when required Company PPE provided + annual gear stipend Clear mentorship and training pathway (Field Tech Crew Lead Field Director) Banked time options; steady NE BC project pipeline Inclusive, respectful culture; meaningful Indigenous engagement Paid safety tickets & development opportunities; support for professional dues (eligible roles)
