Consultant Otolaryngology Otology Interest We are pleased to welcome applications for the post of Consultant Otolaryngologist in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with a subspecialty interest in Otology and implantable hearing devices (noncochlear implant). A fellowship experience is highly desired, and the successful applicant will be encouraged to participate in and develop research and teaching alongside a rich record of partnership with universities in Glasgow and the MRC. Responsibilities Provide clinical care in otology, including the implantable hearing device service. Lead and develop the implantable hearing device service within the department. Deliver elective, emergency and outpatient services across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Operate on a 1 in 7 oncall rota within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital inpatient services. Engage in research, audit, clinical governance, CPD and revalidation activities. Support teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. Qualifications and Experience Specialist training in Otology with a focus on implantable hearing devices. Fellowship experience or equivalent senior clinical experience. Demonstrated commitment to research and teaching. Good organisational and communication skills. Working Conditions Fulltime post on a 10PA basis, with consideration for parttime arrangements. Up to two EPAs may be available to undertake additional outpatient and/or procedure sessions. Additional nonDCC work (up to 2PA in total) can be negotiated. All newly qualified Consultants are initially offered a minimum of one Core Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) covering CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings. A further SPA will be discussed for the implantable hearing device lead and other activities.
