The next CEO at ACG Toronto will ideally have the following experience, characteristics, or aptitudes: Association Leadership & Member Engagement: The CEO will be a strong leader with the ability to convene and energize a community of industry professionals. They will understand that ACGs core value proposition lies in its network, events, and deal-making ecosystem, and will bring a demonstrated ability to leverage member expertise, relationships, and volunteer leadership to advance the profession. They will build strong relationships with ACG Global and peer Chapters, develop value-enhancing partnerships (e.g., CVCA, FEI and others), and grow and retain membership while strengthening sponsorship and revenue through proactive engagement. The CEO will be known for interpersonal effectiveness, maturity, and sound judgment, with the ability to build trust across a diverse, sophisticated, and highly engaged membership. They will be comfortable in a visible role, representing ACG with credibility and professionalism across events, sponsors, partners, and the broader deal-making ecosystem. Event Strategy, Delivery & Member Experience: Event management will be central to the CEO role, and the successful candidate will bring experience planning, delivering, and evolving a portfolio of professional events. They will understand how events drive membership value, sponsorship revenue, relationship-building, and financial performance, with a clear focus on ensuring each event delivers strong ROI. They will be comfortable overseeing programming, speaker selection, sponsorship integration, logistics, and execution. Working closely with volunteer committees and external partners, the CEO will ensure events are consistently well-run while also introducing fresh ideas, formats, and content to keep programming relevant and engaging. Attention to detail, strong execution skills, and a focus on high-quality member experience will be essential. Entrepreneurial Leadership & Strategic Energy: The successful candidate will bring an entrepreneurial, self-starting approach, with the energy and creativity to refresh an organization that is already performing well. While respecting the strengths of ACGs existing pillars and successful cruise control elements, the CEO will introduce thoughtful innovation across programming, thought leadership, and member engagement. Operational Leadership & Financial Stewardship: The ideal candidate will be comfortable overseeing budgeting, sponsorship revenue, and financial controls, while relying on professional support for detailed execution. Experience leading through lean operating models and coordinating support across multiple contributors will be important, as will the ability to thoughtfully manage transitions over time. The CEO will demonstrate strong business judgment, accountability, and comfort in a hands-on role. Working with a Board: The CEO will be highly effective working with a large, volunteer Board and Committee structure, and will understand how to leverage scale to support continuity, engagement, and strong outcomes. They will be skilled at Board outreach and Committee enablement, ensuring volunteers are well-supported, informed, and productive.
