Position Summary Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for overseeing all facility maintenance services within the plant and ensuring that equipment reliability objectives are met. This role involves providing leadership, guidance, and a systematic approach to assessing, determining, and executing capital expenditures and maintenance enhancement needs. Key focus areas include ensuring the preventive maintenance system is healthy, functional and on target, strategic planning for future development and capacity expansion, monitoring and optimizing processes, and leading and mentoring staff. The Maintenance Manager oversees the entire plant maintenance department, including maintenance foremen, technicians, and the Planner and Procurement team, ensuring effective operations, sound maintenance practices, and cost management while aligning with corporate objectives and methods. Key Accountabilities: Provide Maintenance guidance and leadership at the plant level; Lead the workforce with troubleshooting, fixing, and maintaining the plant equipment, machinery and related facilities as required. May perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work if needed; Acts as a primary decision maker in department issues; Lead the Maintenance team to plan, prioritize, and assign tasks. Then review the work to ensure the quality and safe execution of the job meet standards; Drive continuous improvement in areas of equipment reliability and throughputs, including analysis to identify the root cause of downtime and inefficient operations by engaging all key stakeholders to drive solutions and proven results; Execution of a Preventive Maintenance Program with a focus on preventing the plant from equipment breakdown, including inspections, delegation of activities and tasks, allocation of resources and follow-up; Accountable to ensure that the facility and its equipment are operating safely and efficiently, to maximize the life of equipment and reduce the risk of failure; Accountable to ensure a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, contractors, and visitors; Recommend equipment/processing system modifications and/or replacement as needed to improve plant performance or enhance Safety; Manage Maintenance Expenditures, analyzing opportunities for savings. This includes ensuring adequate inventory levels of parts and supplies to minimize downtime while reducing inventory costs; Review and report monthly on KPIs, expenditures, and upcoming support requirements with the executive team members; Manage and support all work in collaboration with Corporate Engineering and Plant Stakeholders on all facility capital and maintenance expenditure projects, including: Prioritizing plant needs; Communicate on the status of projects to ensure minimal disruption to operations; Assist in AFE proposal creation and vendor selection; Help develop project schedules and work teams; Coordinating project activities and resources; Controlling project funds; Overseeing the engineering and maintenance groups to ensure the timely completion of projects; Coordinating and implementing start-up and training procedures as required; Identify and allocate resources required; Follow up to ensure completion. Responsible for sourcing and supervising third-party contractors for repairs, maintenance and equipment installation/removal, beyond the scope of the workforce, while ensuring the quality workmanship and completion to our specifications and requirements; Conducts safety observations and facilitates meetings as required to ensure all employees are adhering to policies and procedures; Provide leadership to staff by hiring, reviewing performance and providing feedback, determining training and development needs, and providing coaching and work direction; Develop plans and measurements to ensure improved competencies of mechanical and electrical personnel are established and maintained against future maintenance requirements; Review and/or complete documentation/records to ensure accuracy and completion for Quality Assurance and regulatory bodies as required; Lead the review, development and implementation of policies and procedures, including user manuals and training materials; Responsible for monitoring and reporting potential food safety issues from a maintenance perspective; Accountable to adhere to and utilize Company policies and procedures, and HACCP regulations; Other duties and tasks as assigned, including duties of maintenance supervisor, working foreman and journeyman; Assume the responsibilities of the Plant Superintendent and/or Plant Manager in their absence. Requirements: Minimum college diploma, university degree in Engineering MMP certification or a registered Electrical or Millwright Journeyperson is preferred 5th Class Power Engineering or greater certification is an asset; Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in food/manufacturing industry, dealing with preventative/predictive maintenance processes and technical guidance (Meat manufacturing preferred); Knowledge of GMP, food safety, health and safety, production equipment, tools and parts required (i.e. electrical, plumbing, mechanical etc) Experience with using CMMS system (i.e. eMaint). Ability to read and interpret blueprints; Working knowledge of ammonia plant operations, including powerhouse support; Strong project management skills in planning, scheduling, assigning, budgeting and management; Strong communication skills required. Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization; Hands-on individual with proven ability to provide leadership and direction to the maintenance department workforce. This includes training, coaching, and discipline in line with the company''s policies and procedures; Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
