The Registered Practical Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care in a multidisciplinary, family centred care environment. The ideal candidate will bring a confident and resourceful attitude in the face of challenges, and have the motivation to deliver results in a complex and demanding environment. Qualifications Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing); Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college; Minimum of one year of recent (within two years) Birthing Centre experience [Ante Partum, Post Partum (Combined Care)] * or minimum of 3 years of recent (within four years) Acute Care Experience in Medicine, Surgery, Emergency or Operating Room required Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Ontario Heart & Stroke guidelines preferred) required; competency in: insertion and removal of urinary catheters and removal of intravenous; Competent and able to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level; Breastfeeding course or demonstrated experience an asset; Completion of Neonatal Resuscitation course (within 3 months of hire) required, Completion of Health Assessment and Medication courses; Demonstrated experience in performing venipuncture an asset; Demonstrated skills in providing patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care; Demonstrated ability to set priorities and provide care in a fast paced, high pressure environment; Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively and collaborate well with patients, families, other care providers and the community Demonstrated excellent documentation skills; Demonstrated ability to effectively work - independently and within a multidisciplinary team and exercise sound judgement; Ability to perform essential duties of the position and all RPN nursing and related duties to the full scope of their practice ; Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; Must have a satisfactory performance record; Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public; and Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health''s comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
