Recreation Technician Opportunities As The Recreation Technician, Your Duties Will Include Helping to enrich the recreational experiences for participants related to an assigned position. Working collaboratively to create a positive atmosphere of inclusion for all participants related to an assigned position. Creatively developing daily activity plans for children, youth or young adults related to an assigned position. Supervising participants, volunteers and equipment/facilities related to an assigned position. Working as part of a dynamic workforce, while gaining valuable work experience. Your Education And Qualifications Include A Grade 10 education. Grade 12 and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience would be an asset. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to work individually and as part of a team, with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Proven recreational programming, leadership and supervisory skills would be an asset. IMPORTANT: Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. Supervise and operate outdoor wading pools for children 12 and under. Ensure safety, rules, and basic water supervision. Helpful skills: speaking languages other than English, water safety knowledge, and leadership. Jobs available across Winnipeg. Youth Leader Recreation Technician C Work with youth ages 1318 in programs like arts, crafts, sports, games, and other activities. Plan and lead activities and keep youth engaged and safe. Need skills in conflict resolution, program planning, and leading activities. Must be comfortable being a positive role model for young people from all backgrounds. Shifts are mainly afternoons and evenings. Preschool Leader (Lil Critters & Cartown) Recreation Technician B or C Lead activities for children ages 37 at various sites. Plan and run arts, crafts, sports, music, drama, and games. Must enjoy working with young children. Cartown is offered in English and French. Childrens Leader (Free Play & Whats Up) Recreation Technician A, B or C Lead programs for children ages 612. Plan fun activities that support physical activity, healthy choices, and community learning. Organize and supervise daily play (arts, sports, games, music, drama, etc.). Must enjoy working with children and acting as a positive role model. Work takes place at sites across Winnipeg. Children''s/Youth Fishing Leader Recreation Technician C Plan activities that help children ages 612 learn about fishing, games, sports, and crafts. Teach youth ages 1017 how to fish in partnership with community groups. Fishing experience is an asset, but training is provided. Leaders are trained in HIGH FIVE Healthy Child Development. Building Supervisor & Facility Monitor (Part Time) Recreation Technician B or C Monitor recreation facilities and weight rooms. Tasks may include answering phones, opening/locking rooms, cleaning equipment, and enforcing safety rules. Must be able to work well with the public and handle basic conflict situations. May assist with program registrations and cash handling. Hours vary (may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends). Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds. Equipment Loans & Equipment Delivery Recreation Technician C Prepare, pack, and deliver recreational and aquatic equipment for city programs. Support Recreation Services events and work well with the public. Must be able to follow schedules, safety rules, and keep simple records. Requirements: Class 5 Drivers License, steel toed boots, and ability to lift 45+ pounds regularly. Work is based at 565 Watt Street and includes both indoor and outdoor tasks.
