Position: Counsellor, Counselling and Therapy Services Reports to: Clinical Manager Location: Blind River, Thessalon, Central Algoma, InPerson Hourly Rate: $32.11 $38.99 Reference #: CCS-0128-02 Closing Date: February 4, 2026, at 4:30p.m. Job Summary Using a strengthbased, solutionfocused, and familycentered approach within the context of antioppressive practice, the Counsellor in partnership with the family, circle of care, and other service providers will assess and treat children, youth, and their families who are experiencing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. Treatment will include an assessment of need, development of a treatment plan, inperson and/or virtual service provision through individual and/or group therapy, referral to additional services if required, and discharge from service planning including any followup care. The incumbent will be located in either Blind River, Thessalon, or Central Algoma, but will also cover the regions of Desbarats, and Bruce Mines as required. Minimum Education Bachelors Degree in Social Work or equivalent minimum requirement Current registration and in good standing with the regulated professional college (RSW, RP) Minimum Experience Two years clinical experience working in childrens mental health or related field preferred Equivalent combinations of training and experience may be considered Qualifications Skill in a variety of cognitivebased, postcrisis intervention, solutionfocused and brief therapy techniques with children, youth and families. Skill in evidenceinformed clinical interventions for children, youth and families. Ability to work effectively with children, youth and families in a therapeutic goaloriented way. Thorough knowledge of child, youth and family development (psychological, emotional, physical, social). High level of maturity and interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated leadership qualities with competence in making and implementing decisions. Ability to work cooperatively and negotiate effectively within an interdisciplinary team, across the agency, with collateral agencies/professionals including the medical community at both a frontline and systems level. Thorough knowledge of mental health resources. Ability to write clear, concise reports. Proficiency with computers and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, and data MIS. Possession of a valid Ontario Class G Drivers License, ability to travel within the district of Algoma, and use of a personal vehicle. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends. Ability to provide services in both official languages (English/French) is an asset. Must provide a clean Criminal Record Check. Full COVID19 Vaccination.
