What qualifications are we looking for? Experience working with young children aged 6 weeks 9 years A positive attitude and collaborative teamwork approach Education in Early Childhood Education is desirable Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including basic computer literacy Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. This position is part-time, and hours scheduled will vary based on area need. YMCA Child Minding is offered 7-days per week during daytime and early evening hours. Flexibility of the successful applicants personal schedule is required in order to ensure area needs are met. Additional hours to meet training requirements will also be scheduled. Ensure excellent service by identifying and responding to the needs of children and sign children in and out using YMCA Calgarys digital transfer-of-care practices. Support children with social skill development, self-regulation, personal care needs, and achievement of developmental milestones. Plan and facilitate intentional, developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences. Maintain all health, safety, and child protection standards; ensure a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment at all times. Build positive, professional relationships with families and represent YMCA Calgary in a welcoming and inclusive manner. Leadership & Operational Support Serve as the direct report for frontline Child Minding Caregivers, offering ongoing guidance, coaching, and support. Coordinate and maintain staff schedules, ensuring adequate ratios and coverage across sites. Support onboarding of new Child Minding staff and volunteers, including orientation to YMCA policies, procedures, and child development practices. Assist in monitoring program quality and consistency across Child Minding spaces. Help resolve day-to-day challenges related to staffing and program logistics. Organizational Engagement Supervise and provide support to the Family Playground Program spaces. Uphold YMCA Calgarys mission, values, and policies. Professionally represent the YMCA to internal and external stakeholders. Engage with and support YMCA initiatives, projects, and events as required.
