Some weekend work required for all positions Paid orientation, training and development with opportunities to grow your career Comprehensive Benefit package with 25+ hours average worked each week Employee discount and perk offerings with various partnerships, including TD Insurance, Telus, Rogers, Goodlife, Perkopolis etc. Referral Bonus (if eligible) Non Violent Crisis Intervention Certification Reward and recognition programs Employee Assistance Program What You Will Do Using American Sign Language (ASL) you will: Support clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individuals quality of life Assist and teach daily living activities, and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being Daily documentation and reporting Menu planning and/or preparation Medication Administration (as delegated) Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles Support clients with varied level of personal care (e.g. hand-over-hand, full support, etc.) Assisting with household activities and chores Companionship What You Will Need To Be Successful Experience/knowledge of working with adult clients with intellectual and mental disabilities. Experience/knowledge of working with clients with alcohol and drug dependencies. Must have a valid certification in emergency first Aid and CPR. Must be proficient/fluent in ASL Required to have a clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector, Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry valid in the last 6 months. Minimum Grade Twelve education, preferably post-secondary, Developmental Service Worker Certificate, Health Care Aide certification or a combination of related education/experience. Ability to work effectively within a team environment, sound decision making abilities and the capacity to work with minimal supervision.
