Job Description

We are currently welcoming applications from uncertified staff as well as ECIs (Interns) ECAs (Assistants), and ECEs (Certified Educators) to join our substitute pool. This is an on-call role with hours varying between 7:15 AM and 5:15 pm, Monday to Friday. The amount of work varies but usually last for a few days to a few weeks at a time; 4 to 8 hours per day. We call upon our sub pool members when a member of our regular team is away from the program due to illness, vacation, a leave or to attend training. We would like to grow our sub pool to be one of trusted members that we can call upon on a consistent basis. This is an ideal role for someone who is interested in part time work, in gaining experience in the field or who would like to learn more about Montessori child care. Summerside Montessori Children''s Studio is a licensed, high-quality early childhood program serving 3 infants, and 9 toddlers and preschoolers in Summerside, PEI. Licensed for up to 12 children, we offer a peaceful, beautiful, and resource-rich Montessori environment with full-day programming. Our program is built on the principles of respect, independence, and deep engagement. Our classrooms are light-filled and thoughtfully prepared. Educators are supported, mentored, and encouraged to bring their gifts to the children, the team, and the community. At Summerside Montessori Children''s Studio, we are creating a small, high-quality program where children and educators grow together in an environment built on respect, creativity, and care. We Are Looking For Substitute Educators Who: Uncertified but with some experience with children or ECI, ECA or ECE (Level 1, 2 or 3) qualified in PEI or in training Clear Criminal/Vulnerable Sector Record Search First Aid, CPR accepted by Child Care Board for PEI Child Care Any of the Following Is An Asset: Montessori Certification/Training is an Asset Experience Supporting Children Who Require Additional Support Are warm, observant, and passionate about supporting children''s independence and growth Are curious about Montessori philosophy (Montessori experience is an assetbut not required; we''ll support you) and who have a deep respect for following the child. Are interested in helping us align the AQI with Montessori activities. Free parking Responsibilities Supporting the main educators in the program when we experience a regular program staff absence. Create and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the developmental needs of children in the Montessori program. Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and abilities. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative approach to education. Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior, and participate in ongoing professional development. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, including administering First Aid when necessary. Please note: This role requires you to be able to actively work with young children.
