Position Summary The Junior AV System Designer/Installer plays a key role within the Learning Space Audio-Visual (LSAV) portfolio of the Digital Learning Environment (DLE) at the University of Alberta. This position supports the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audiovisual systems across classrooms, learning spaces, and meeting rooms, directly contributing to high-quality teaching, learning, and collaboration experiences. Working closely with instructors, staff, and technical teams, the role provides tier 2 AV support, assists with system integrations for hybrid and blended learning, and helps ensure AV technologies operate reliably in dynamic academic environments. The successful candidate will bring strong technical aptitude, a proactive and service-oriented mindset, and an interest in emerging technologies such as AV over IP, video conferencing, and innovative learning tools, while gaining hands-on experience in a large, complex post-secondary environment. Provide tier 2 audiovisual support, troubleshooting, and incident resolution for classrooms, learning spaces, and meeting rooms Install, maintain, and replace AV hardware and components to ensure reliable, high-quality learning environments Support integration of AV systems, conferencing tools, cameras, and emerging technologies for hybrid and blended learning Collaborate with instructors, staff, and technical teams to assess needs, recommend solutions, and deliver effective AV support Monitor and resolve service tickets using ITSM tools while meeting service level expectations Assist with AV system installations and ongoing improvements in partnership with AV System Designer/Installer staff Minimum Qualifications Diploma in media, design, theatre production, radio/television, information technology, or a related field Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the audiovisual and/or IT industry Experience supporting and troubleshooting audiovisual systems, PC-based computers, and web/video conferencing technologies Working knowledge of Windows-based PCs and common productivity and collaboration software Demonstrated analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced service environment Strong customer service, communication (oral and written), and time management skills Experience providing training or support to individuals and groups Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) driver''s licence Ability to work effectively in environments involving change, ambiguity, and evolving technology Preferred / Asset Qualifications Experience working in a post-secondary or educational environment Familiarity with AV over IP concepts and basic networking principles (e.g., switches, VLANs) Experience with video and audio editing software AVIXA AV Essentials certification ITIL Foundations certification Ability to communicate in multiple languages Interest in or exposure to emerging learning technologies such as hybrid teaching tools, virtual reality, or mixed reality Application Instructions Click ''Apply Now'' to submit your cover letter and resume.
