Job Description

Special Events Staff support City events by ensuring safe facility operations, providing customer support, and assisting with event setup and technical needs. Responsibilities: Perform opening and closing procedures to ensure facility is safe for patrons to enter and is secure at end of facility operation. Monitor and ensure the safety of patrons while in the facility, park and space by conducting facility patrols and building perimeter checks On-site contact for rental clients and patrons Administer first aid as required Report information relating to issues and conflicts within the facility to full-time staff Enforce and follow City of Oshawa policies and procedures (eg. Fire plan, Accident/Incident reporting, etc.) Assist with set-up/take-down of tables/chairs and other equipment Setup of sound system to meet the needs of City events, and maintain appropriate sound levels throughout City events including decibel levels Support and demonstrate the City of Oshawa core values of Authenticity, Courage, and Trust Other duties as assigned Requirements: Minimum Grade 12 education One (1) year experience in a customer service or recreation/events environment Knowledge of sound equipment such as analogue and digital mixers, speakers, connections cables, amplification requirements, microphones and sound level checks Possess and keep current Standard First Aid/CPR ''C'' qualifications Demonstrate good customer service and communication skills to deal effectively and courteously with staff and the general public; good interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships Able to work alone with minimal supervision Attend all staff training and meetings Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required As a condition of employment, the City of Oshawa will require successful candidates to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check.
