Location: Camrose, Alberta (relocation assistance available) In office role An established, member-focused financial institution in Alberta is seeking an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. This is a broad, hands-on role with real influenceideal for a CPA who enjoys combining technical excellence with people leadership and organizational impact. The Opportunity Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Controller plays a critical role in overseeing all accounting and financial administration for the organization. You will lead both the Accounting and Finance functions, ensure the integrity of financial reporting, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. This role offers a rare blend of: Strategic oversight and hands-on leadership Exposure to executive decision-making A values-driven culture with strong community roots Long-term career stability and growth Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Reporting Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate, timely financial statements Oversee internal and external financial reporting (IFRS accounting standards) Prepare and review regulatory and management reports Perform variance analysis and provide insights to support decision-making Accounting & Controls Oversee general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets, and reconciliations Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with legislation and policy Coordinate with internal, external, and regulatory auditors Ensure records retention and documentation standards are met People & Department Leadership Lead and develop the Accounting and Finance teams Coach and support direct reports Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Treasury, Liquidity & Policy Support investment and liquidity management within regulatory and policy limits Contribute to interest rate analysis and recommendations Oversee corporate policy development, maintenance, and review cycles Ensure compliance monitoring and risk management processes are effective What We''re Looking For CPA designation (or actively working toward it) University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Strong knowledge of IFRS or good overall technical competence Proven experience leading accounting and finance functions Advanced Excel and MS Office skills Excellent judgment, organization, and attention to detail Strong communication skills and executive presence Experience in a credit union or cooperative environment is an asset, but not required Why This Role?
