POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources and Occupational Health, the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) is responsible for the delivery and coordination of occupational health services for approximately 400 employees across South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC). The OHN provides comprehensive disability and absence case management to support the safe, timely, and sustainable return to work of employees with both work-related and non-work-related injuries, illnesses, and disabilities, in collaboration with an Occupational Health Physician. The OHN works closely with managers, Human Resources, union representatives, and external partners to assess functional abilities, identify appropriate accommodations, and align work duties with job demands. The role includes conducting physical and cognitive demands analyses, basic ergonomic assessments, and maintaining confidential medical information to support sick benefit administration and time away from work. The OHN ensures SBGHC''s compliance with applicable legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Human Rights Code, and applicable privacy legislation. The position also collaborates with Human Resources on attendance support and absence management initiatives and provides back-up support to the Rehabilitation and Occupational Health & Safety Consultants. MAJOR AND/OR KEY ELEMENTS Coordinate and manage occupational and non-occupational disability cases, including short- and long-term absences Facilitate safe and timely return-to-work and accommodation plans based on functional abilities and job demands Liaise with Occupational Health Physicians, treating practitioners, WSIB, insurers, and other stakeholders Conduct physical and cognitive demands analyses and basic ergonomic and workstation assessments Collect, interpret, and maintain confidential medical documentation in accordance with privacy legislation Support attendance management processes in collaboration with Human Resources and leadership Ensure legislative compliance related to occupational health, disability management, and employee accommodations Provide guidance and support to leaders regarding fitness for work, medical restrictions, and workplace accommodations Participate in occupational health surveillance, exposure management, and immunization-related processes as applicable Provide back-up support to Rehabilitation and Occupational Health & Safety Consultants Travel between SBGHC sites as required Position Qualifications & Prerequisites: Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required A Bachelor''s degree in a relevant health discipline with a Disability Management Diploma or Occupational Health Nursing Certificate (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is considered and asset Minimum three (3) years of recent experience in occupational health, disability management, or claims management, preferably in a unionized healthcare setting Demonstrated experience managing WSIB and non-occupational disability claims Certification or demonstrated experience in workplace ergonomics is considered an asset Strong knowledge and working experience with: Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA) Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and regulations Ontario Human Rights Code Privacy legislation related to personal health information Demonstrated ability to facilitate complex and sensitive conversations and manage difficult or stressful situations with professionalism and empathy Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage a diverse workload with frequently changing priorities and deadlines Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel Working knowledge of OMA/OHA surveillance and exposure management systems is an asset Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, discretion, and professional conduct Valid G Class Driver''s License and access to a reliable vehicle; travel between SBGHC sites is required Requirement to be on site at one of SBGHC''s four (4) locations Recent satisfactory performance and good attendance record Knowledge of and commitment to SBGHC Values: Teamwork, Empathy, Accountability, Mutual Respect, and Safety WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT Office-based work with frequent movement between hospital sites Workload may involve simultaneous case management of multiple employees, requiring prioritization and time-sensitive decisions May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in clinical or exposure-risk situations Frequent travel within the hospital sites; exposure to variable physical environments FREQUENT CONTACTS Internal: Employees, Managers, Human Resources team, Union representatives, Rehabilitation and OH&S Consultants, Occupational Health Physician External: Treating physicians, WSIB representatives, insurers, healthcare providers, and regulatory bodies SALARY & BENEFITS This is a full-time, permanent management position offering a competitive salary range of $90,000 $108,000 annually SBGHC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), extended health and dental coverage, paid vacation, and professional development opportunities To be considered for this position please submit resumes to Human Resources by email to clearly indicating the posting number noted above.
