PALIATIVE MANITOBA Volunteer Telephone Bereavement Coordinator Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba (In-Office Role) Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday Friday; some evening work required Salary: Competitive, based on relevant experience and qualifications About Palliative Manitoba: Palliative Manitoba is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families experiencing life-limiting illnesses. We provide compassionate volunteer visiting services, telephone bereavement support, and resources to enhance quality of life for patients and their loved ones throughout Manitoba. Key Responsibilities: Recruit, screen, onboard, and supervise volunteers to meet program and service needs Coordinate volunteer training, education sessions, and orientation programs Schedule and match volunteers with participants, including handling complex or sensitive cases Provide ongoing guidance, mentorship, and support to volunteers Maintain accurate volunteer records, track hours, and prepare reports and statistics Collect and analyze data related to volunteer engagement and program outcomes Collaborate with staff to identify volunteer needs and support program planning Promote volunteer programs through outreach, and community presentations Support program growth by increasing volunteer and participant engagement Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety protocols, and best practices Qualifications Relevant education or equivalent experience in palliative care, bereavement support, social services, or a related field. Experience coordinating and supporting volunteer programs, preferably in a community or healthcare setting. Knowledge of bereavement and grief support programs. Proven leadership experience, including supervising, mentoring, or supporting volunteers or teams. Strong communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences. Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment. Demonstrated initiative with a solutions-focused, adaptable, and optimistic approach to work. Experience with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training; teaching or facilitation experience is an asset. Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting to evaluate program effectiveness. Knowledge of basic marketing or outreach strategies to promote volunteer programs is an asset. Experience using donor or volunteer management databases (e.g., iContact, DonorPerfect) is considered an asset. Strong commitment to the mission, values, and objectives of the organization.
