What will you do? Deliver high quality visitor experiences by developing annual work plans, determining service level requirements, and managing and deploying the associated labour, equipment and financial resources required to implement the work plan Lead, manage and coach an effective and respectful team of Labourer I, II and Crew Leader positions, including hiring, orientation, training, performance management and evaluation Build and maintain effective working relationships with section staff, other City branches and departments as well as external stakeholders including the general public, event organizers, special interest groups, suppliers and partners in order to meet various customer and operational needs Responsibly manage financial resources by adhering to City procurement processes, reviewing financial information, contributing to reporting requirements and resolving any budgetary discrepancies Work with various partner and customer groups for the coordination of their projects and activities within the River Valley Effectively and professionally communicate through verbal and written methods Develop, edit and manage 311 scripting related to the River Valley, and investigate and address citizen comments/concerns in a timely manner and provide feedback and responses to councilor inquiries Coordinate the deployment, servicing, sharing, replacement and acquisition of equipment resources for River Valley Parks and Facilities Promote a safe work environment and coordinate and manage the Occupational Health & Safety requirements for River Valley Parks & Facilities, including the required documentation and communication related to hazard assessments, inspections, incidents, safety meetings, SOPs, and site specific issues Support the City of Edmonton environmental management system through pollution prevention, regulatory compliance and continual improvement with the Enviso team Explain and interpret related City of Edmonton agreements, bylaws and policies to employees, contractors and the public Prepare and contribute to various reports to support section, budget and workforce planning Support and attend various meetings as a participant, resource, organizer/chair and record and distribute meeting results, and follow up on assigned action items Perform related duties as required Qualifications Completion of a University Bachelor degree in environmental or natural sciences, park management, natural resource management, recreation administration, horticulture or other related field 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership role related to park or facility management, of which at least 2 years shall be supervisory experience Completion of a leadership training program or course work Assets Valid driver''s license and a clean abstract Standard First Aid and CPR certification Knowledge of CUPE 30 collective agreement standards Skills required for success Extensive knowledge of standard methods, practices, materials and tools, related to parks development, servicing, management and oversight Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently plan, assign, supervise and evaluate the work of staff Exemplary customer service skills Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and prioritization skills required Ability to monitor work plans for timeliness, quantity, quality, productivity, unit costing, and accomplishments Skilled at using various technology and software programs, including Google, Ariba, SAP and booking systems Sound knowledge of City policies, procedures, bylaws, legislation and the collective agreement between the City of Edmonton and CUPE local 30 Ability to think holistically and consider multiple impacts, perspectives and considerations in decision making Knowledge of other Civic Departments and agencies Ability to work and make decisions in an independent manner Ability to communicate and deal effectively with the public, civic departments and outside organizations Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion Conditions of Employment Standard First Aid is a requirement and can be completed upon hire Valid Class 5 drivers license (or provincial equivalent).
