The Service Manager is responsible for delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience at Eagle Lakes Calgary Contractor Store. This is a management-level position focused on leading inside sales and counter service for landscape contractors and walk-in customers (''store customers''). The Service Manager plays a key role in executing Eagle Lakes brand promise at the point of customer interaction ensuring the store is ready, the team is supported, and customers receive trusted service every day. WHAT YOU''LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR Lead and actively support inside sales and counter service operations. Manage, train, and coach the Contractor Store service team. Ensure consistent service standards and timely customer support. Support Strathmore Farm sales as needed, including BigYellowBag coverage and service continuity. Store Operations & Presentation Ensure the Contractor Store opens on time each day and meets presentation standards. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising. Coordinate with Procurement and Yard teams on inventory levels and product placement. Identify opportunities to improve store layout, product mix, and customer flow. Execution & Cross-Functional Support Support Business Development and Marketing initiatives through in-store execution. Assist with company events such as Lunch & Learns and contractor programs. Manage the stores Instagram account and assist with content creation. Provide operational and training support to the Head of Operations. Provide weekly updates on store performance, challenges, and opportunities. Participate in management and safety meetings and cascade information to the store team. Use customer feedback and market insight to propose improvements to service, sales, and operations. WHAT WE''RE LOOKING FOR Proven experience in customer service leadership, inside sales, or retail/service operations. Strong people-management skills with a hands-on leadership style. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage priorities, delegate effectively, and take ownership of outcomes. Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, logistics, sales, and marketing. Experience in landscaping, construction supply, agriculture, or related industries is an asset. Cash-outs and transactional issues are resolved before end of shift. Inventory or service issues are identified and escalated quickly. The store team is well-trained, supported, and aligned. Oversee storefront inventory management processes such as stocking, stock rotation, and inventory control to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Handle cash register operations including cashiering, cash handling, and payroll processing with accuracy. Implement marketing initiatives to attract new customers and retain existing clients through promotional campaigns and community engagement. Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming store environment by supervising shift management and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Utilize POS (Point of Sale) systems effectively for sales transactions, inventory tracking, and reporting purposes. Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, provide training on strategic initiatives, merchandising techniques, and customer service excellence. Experience Proven experience in the landscape supply and/or construction industry Demonstrated success in supervising teams with strong leadership skills in employee orientation and development. Skilled in inventory management systems, POS technology, and cash handling procedures Background in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding new employees, and conducting performance evaluations. Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate staff and engage customers across diverse backgrounds Knowledge of sales techniques including merchandising, pricing strategies, marketing initiatives, and promotional planning.
