About Operations The Operations function within Dow is comprised of four unique focus areas that translate business strategies into operations priorities and results. The focus areas are Manufacturing, Technical Expertise & Support (TES), Environmental, Health & Safety Operations (EH&S), and Emergency Services & Security (ES&S). About You Your job will include a broad range of responsibilities in a variety of different work settings such as chemical plant safety and environmental performance, process operation, optimization, modification, maintenance, and technology implementation. Engineers must use sound technical judgment to enable safe and efficient plant operations. Youll work as part of a team at Dow and we have many opportunities to address challenging realworld problems. About the Job Youll work either a 4, 8, 12, or 16month consecutive period provided your performance is satisfactory. Additional work terms beyond the initial period are contingent upon your endofterm evaluation, slot availability, and school requirements. Assignment Location Alberta Prentiss (near Red Deer) and Fort Saskatchewan (near Edmonton) Current Coop Positions Available at Dow Chemical/Petroleum Engineer (Key Roles: Production, Process, Process Automation, Project Controls, or Improvement Engineer) You will fill one of several technical resource roles where you will provide technical support to plant operating personnel in order to maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Key responsibilities may include manufacturing process troubleshooting and problem solving, preventive maintenance, yield and process improvements, waste reduction, safety enhancements, process control, cost optimization, project management and implementation, equipment design, and new technology implementation. Mechanical Engineer (Key Roles: Production, Hardware Design, Maintenance/Reliability, Project Controls, or Improvement Engineer) You will fill one of several technical resource roles where you will provide technical support to plant operating personnel in order to maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Key responsibilities may include providing technical expertise in areas such as maintenance & reliability as well as production operations and project engineering. Responsibilities may range from chemical plant operations, process improvements, predictive maintenance, failure analysis, and vessel & piping design to manufacturing process troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, yield and process improvements, waste reduction, safety enhancements, process control, cost optimization, project management and implementation, equipment design, and new technology implementation. Electrical Engineer (Key Roles: Production, Hardware Design, Maintenance/Reliability, Project Controls, or Improvement Engineer) You will fill one of several technical resource roles where you will provide technical support to plant operating personnel in order to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Key responsibilities may include providing technical expertise in areas such as maintenance & reliability as well as power plant production operations and project engineering. Responsibilities may range from power plant operations, process improvements, predictive maintenance, failure analysis, MCC/Transformer/Switchgear design, electrical instrumentation troubleshooting and problem solving, preventive maintenance, process improvements, safety enhancements, motor control, cost optimization, project management and implementation, equipment design, and new technology implementation. Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental/Civil or Material Science/Metallurgical Engineering. Ability to work legally in Canada without Company Sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Completed 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of academic studies. Active participation and leadership in extracurricular activities and oncampus organizations. Preferred GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent on a 100% scale at your current Canadian university. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Outstanding work ethic and leadership potential. Previous coop experience is a plus. Enrolled in an Engineers Canada accredited program. Contingencies Reliable attendance is an expectation of every Dow employee. Therefore, the successful candidate must consistently access their assigned plant site using dependable transportation.
