The Opportunity We are hiring a Finance Director to join the School of Medicine! This newly created role leads the development and implementation of schoolwide financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and resource management strategies that advance the academic, research, and operational priorities of the School of Medicine. Serving as a trusted strategic advisor, the position provides expert financial counsel to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Dean, and senior leadership by assessing longterm financial implications, recommending evidencebased solutions, and ensuring alignment with broader University policies, procedures, and governance frameworks. This role oversees the financial operations of the School of Medicine, supporting budgeting, reporting, financial compliance, and informed decisionmaking. As required, the Director also provides professional financial and advisory support to the Integrated Health Centre, including support for external financial reporting and audit requirements, where access to TMU financial systems or institutional financial expertise is needed, in close collaboration with TMU Financial Services and the University Planning Office. In addition, the Director conducts financial research and analysis to inform policy development and longterm planning, and represents the CAO and the School of Medicine in TMUwide planning discussions and committees. Qualifications Completion of a university degree program in finance, accounting, business or public administration, or a relevant field. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management within a postsecondary, public sector, or MUSH (municipalities, universities, school boards, hospitals) environment, including experience managing complex budgets, government funding, and resource planning. Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education. Demonstrated work experience in statistical analysis to support forecasting, financial modelling, and program/project viability assessments. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required. Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, including variance analysis and financial interpretation. Knowledge of statistical analysis measurement theory to support forecasting, modelling, and program/project viability assessments. Indepth knowledge of accounting and finance principles and associated technical and security considerations. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Google Sheet and financial systems/software applications to support modelling and reporting. Knowledge of postsecondary education systems, funding structures and sectorspecific financial issues.
