We at GFD of Canada have an exciting full-time role for Sr Director of Finance to help us with creating a new subsidiary Trust company! This role will grow to a C-Suite Level position as the company develops. GFD of Canada is a boutique financial institution that serves the bereavement industry. We currently have $1.5B Assets under Administration and are poised for a national expansion. We are on the cusp of transforming the organization into exciting new territories, driving expansion throughout Canada. Driving Purpose of the position The Senior Director of Finance role is designed for a seasoned finance leader ready to operate at a senior level while demonstrating the strategic capabilities required for future executive leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in obtaining the regulatory approval of a newly formed trust company subsidiary. As a trusted advisor to the CEO & CFO, Senior Leadership Team, and Board of Directors, you will provide critical oversight of financial performance, regulatory compliance, and risk management, while enabling innovation and long-term sustainability. This high-impact role offers significant exposure to executive decision-making and board-level engagement. We are looking for a leader who has the potential to assume greater responsibilities over time. What your typical day would look like The Senior Director of Finance will drive the transformation of GFDs trust business into a nationwide federally regulated Trust company. You will lead the activities to obtain the requisite regulatory approvals to form the new subsidiary, including but not limited to: Play a pivotal role in shaping and launching a new subsidiary, contributing strategic financial insight from inception through golive. Drive regulatory readiness by leading key components of compliance, reporting, and operational setup for the newly formed subsidiary. Assess business requirements and lead the selection, implementation, and testing of financial systems that support capital adequacy, risk management, and regulatory reporting. Develop and refine the policies, procedures, job profiles, and operational frameworks needed to ensure the subsidiarys successful and sustainable operation. All while working with the Board of Directors and Committees to ensure transparency of company activities and results. What You bring to the role Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) active and in good standing 10-15 years of proven experience in a regulated environment such as trust, banking, or investment wealth. 5+ years experience working with regulatory requirements for OSFI regulated entities.
