Part time positions take shape through the commitment to a specific community or communities and to a pre-specified number of hours, translated to a partial FTE. The work focus is on scheduled days in the community to provide direct service, coupled with a flexible schedule to complete reports and virtual patient/community follow up. Full time positions are dedicated to the service, balancing travel and virtual patient follow up for multiple communities throughout the year.Jordan River Anderson was born in 1999 with multiple disabilities and stayed in the hospital from birth.When he was 2 years old, doctors said he could move to a special home for his medical needs. However, the federal and provincial governments could not agree on who should pay for his home-based care. Jordan stayed in the hospital until he passed away at the age of 5. In 2007, the House of Commons passed Jordan's Principle in memory of Jordan. It was a commitment that First Nations children would get the products, services and supports they need, when they need them. Today, Jordan's Principle is a legal obligation, which means it has no end date. Jordan's Principle will support First Nations children for generations to come (Honouring Jordan River Anderson (sac-isc.gc.ca)).The home base of the position is at a Clinical Health Psychology site in Winnipeg with flexibility for hybrid work models. The Jordans Principle Services are provided to indigenous communities through visits and virtual connections. The Psychologist works closely with pediatricians and other system partners to provide a collaborative family-centered and culturally safe approach to care. Successful applicants will provide psychological evaluation for diagnosis and treatment planning. Depending on the specific service need, this may tailor to general neurodevelopment assessments for preschool and school-aged children. Community visits occur for communities within driving distance, as well as to fly in/remote communities.Clinical Health Psychology (CHP) is unique in Canada, being both a clinical program in the health system and an academic department in the Max Rady College of Medicine, with a mandate to provide psychological services across a range of hospital and community sites in urban and rural/northern settings. As a member of CHP, the Psychologist joins a large team of dedicated psychologist colleagues in Winnipeg and across the province who provide mentoring, consultation, and collegial support.For more information about Shared Health, visit: more information about CHP, visit: degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited training program.Completion of a CPA or APA accredited Internship/Residency.Registered or eligible for registration as a C. Psych by the Psychological Association of Manitoba training and experience in child & adolescent clinical psychology and family systems.Education, training and experience in diagnostic evaluation and cognitive and/or developmental assessment, including the administration and interpretation of standard psychological tests and measures applicable to children.Training, experience, and interests in Indigenous health an asset.Commitment to the spirit of Jordans Principle, with training and experience in working with indigenous families and communities with willingness to engage in additional training and consultation for this work.Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, oral and written communication, and inter-professional teamwork skills.Satisfactory results of pre-employment criminal record, vulnerable person and child and adult abuse registry checks are required.CompensationPlacement on regional salary scale will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.A market-equivalent top up is in place for the position for travel to the communities.Depending on duration and FTE level of commitment, a benefits package is available through Shared Health.Supervision will be provided by the CHP Program for individuals registered at the C.Psych.
