Job Description

Role Reporting to the Field Area Manager, the role of the Crane Operator is to operate crane under general supervision and signals from helper to lift, manipulate, move and position heavy equipment, machinery and other heavy objects at construction sites. The Crane Operator is expected to perform daily pre and post-operational inspections including inspection of structures and materials. The Crane Operator is expected to diligently adhere to Rising Edge Groups safety policies and safe work procedures at all times. Responsibilities Perform pre-operational inspection, safety checks, test lifts and calculate crane capacities andweight to prepare for rigging and hoisting Communicate with ground crews using hand signals and voice communication Identify, and communicate with the Area Manager, the causes of errors and defects in the craneincluding issues with cables, pulleys and grappling devices Before lifting heavy loads, ensure that blocks and outriggers are properly placed to preventcapsizing Perform required due diligence and use gestures and hand signals when installing, positioningand moving material, equipment or machinery When required, bolt boom sections together to extend boom for higher lifting Ensure weights are checked against lifting capacities before preparing for rigging and hoisting Calculate weights for undocumented materials Load, secure, and transport material and equipment Maintain logbooks follow cvip protocols Willing to work out of town for extended periods of time Requirements Qualifications InterprovincialRed Seal or recognized Journeyperson Mobile Crane Operator or journeyperson boom truck operator ticket is required Minimum 5 years'' practical work experience operating 20T stiff boom and knuckle boom cranes Hold a minimum valid class 3 license, preferably class 1 Ability to operate various other equipment not required, but considered a strong asset Must have valid CSTS (Construction Safety Training System) certification Must have or be able to complete End-user Fall Arrest certification Must meet pre-access Drug & Alcohol testing requirements Ability and willingness to work out of town Able to travel including travelling to remote sites. Able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must show that you can work in a safe manner with respect to the environment, health and safety issues in the work place.
