Reporting to the Project Manager, The Project Coordinator assists with overall project performance and status from start to finish and in accordance with schedule, specifications and budget. They manage cost, schedule, safety, and quality, and keep the Project Manager well-informed of progress, discrepancies, questions, and any impacts on project plan and schedule.Our ideal candidate is a motivated and detail-oriented Project Coordinator with a minimum of 3 years experience in utility construction, specifically URD (Underground Residential Distribution) projects. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively, and collaborate well to achieve project goals. Experience with street lighting installations is a strong asset, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving, safety, and continuous learning.Duties & ResponsibilitiesEstablish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders including Black & McDonald team members, clients, consultants, joint venture partners, trades, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the community, while keeping them informed of relevant informationAssist in planning and preparing schedules and milestones, and monitor progress against established timelinesComply and ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable HSE legislation and company policies and procedures, contract requirements, and Black & McDonald policies and proceduresMaintain departmental and network databases as required to ensure records are kept current and accurateParticipate in document control, archive project activities, deliverables, tools and findings for use in future projectsAssist the project team to ensure project objectives, schedule, budget, cash flow, policies, procedures, and performance standards are met in accordance with company policy and contract specificationsCoordinate with the project team to plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and execute project(s) on time, within budget, and in accordance with corporate policyAssist in preparing contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractorsAssists in budget analysis, cost and margin projections, estimate project changes and impactsTrack, interpret, analyze, and report on project dataAdditional responsibilities may be assigned based on project needsCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTSChange Orientation (open to change and the ability to identify where it is needed and how to make it happen)Communicates Effectively (verbally and in writing)Continuous Learning (ongoing effort to learn and contribute to the learnings of others)Customer Focus (understand the needs and perspectives of both internal and external customers)Holds Self and Others Accountable (take personal responsibility to meet commitments)Problem Solving and Innovation (ability to approach problems logically and seek innovative solutions)Teamwork and Collaboration (work cooperatively and collaboratively with others)Values and Respects Others (encourages and supports diversity)EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSA Degree or Diploma in the following would be considered an asset:Project ManagementConstruction ManagementElectrical TechnologistThe following certifications/designations are considered an asset:PMP designationWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSMinimum of 3 years experience as an Electrical or Civil Project Coordinator in the utility construction industry, with a strong focus on URD projects required.
