Job Description Job Summary The National Business Administration Manager (NBAM) leads and optimizes business administration and accounting operations across The Salvation Army Thrift Store National Recycling Operations (NRO). Reporting to the National Director of Business Administration and Finance, the NBAM oversees the Business Administration Department, providing national support to Thrift Stores, Donor Welcome Centres (DWCs), Distribution & Recycling Centres (DRCs), and all other NRO departments. The NBAM is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing operational and business administration strategies and best practices that drive efficiency, reduce costs, improve service quality, and ensure compliance with NRO requirements, protocols, and TSA policies. The role provides both operational and strategic leadership for the department, managing a team of Business Administration Specialists and Coordinators, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. The NBAM also partners with cross-functional leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiencies, and best practices at both departmental and national levels, and ensure that departmental objectives align with organizational goals and strategic priorities. Key Accountabilities Lead, coach, and develop the Business Administration team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and service excellence aligned with TSA policies and NRO protocols. Oversee day-to-day business administration operations supporting Stores, DWCs, DRCs, and national NRO departments. Set performance objectives, manage workloads and coverage, and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development. Serve as the primary liaison with internal departments, senior leadership, and THQ Business Partners on administrative and accounting matters. Ensure consistent, compliant business administration and accounting processes across all NRO locations. Oversee procurement, cash management, accounts payable, invoicing, credit cards, budgeting, year-end accounting, and related financial processes. Maintain documentation, playbooks, systems (eWay, MyNRO), contract databases, and organizational contact lists. Ensure compliance with Internal Audit, Tax Receipting, Voucher Programs, and TSA-preferred supplier and procurement requirements. Drive process improvement, standardization, and system enhancements in collaboration with IT and cross-functional partners. Provide strategic leadership by aligning departmental priorities with NRO objectives, contributing to national initiatives, and making data-driven recommendations to senior leadership. Education And Experience Qualifications Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Accounting (equivalent combination of education and experience considered) Minimum 7 years demonstrated experience leading and improving business administration operations in a multi-site or national environment, including process optimization, policy implementation, and team management Proven ability to lead teams and coordinate operations to enhance administrative and accounting efficiency in alignment with organizational policies and multi-site protocols Demonstrated experience managing compliance, procedural oversight, and adherence to regulatory or organizational requirements Strong knowledge and practical understanding of accounting principles and practices, including cash management, accounts payable, invoicing, deposits, expense management, national yearly budget, and year-end processes Experience developing and executing operational strategies to improve efficiency and drive cost savings Strong leadership and coaching capabilities that foster accountability, collaboration, and high performance across multi-site operations. Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills with the ability to manage complex, national initiatives. Analytical, detail-oriented problem solver with a proactive and solution-focused mindset. Effective communicator and relationship builder, able to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $66,831.48 to $83,539.35 with a maximum of $100,247.22. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
