Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Torontos subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. As a member of the Municipal Relations management team, you will build strategic relationships, support issue resolution, and lead the development of systems and frameworks that improve how Metrolinx collaborates with municipal and internal partners. You bring strong political acuity, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complex, multi party environments with clarity and diplomacy. As a leader in the Community, Communications & Stakeholder Relations Division, you model an inclusive, respectful, and people first culture. You provide clear direction and coaching, collaborate across teams, make accountable and principled decisions, and lead through change with resilience and a continuous improvement mindset.The portfolio currently focuses on 905 Eastwith a focus on municipalities in Durham Region and York Region. Some travel may be required. This competition may also be used to fill future vacancies in other municipal portfolios across the GTHA.What will I be doing?Develops and implements municipal engagement strategies to build and sustain strong relationships with municipalities, transit agencies, provincial partners, and other stakeholders that support Metrolinxs priorities.Identifies and seeks opportunities to strengthen relationships with municipal partners, working closely with internal teams to effect change and improve coordination.Provides insight on municipal priorities and collaborates with internal teams to proactively address local issues that may influence project delivery.Monitors developments from regional and municipal councils and shares relevant insights with program teams and senior leadership to inform decisionmaking.Supports the review of documentation from both Metrolinx and municipal partners to ensure alignment with agency priorities. Assists with identifying potential risks and sensitivities that may affect strategic decisions and project delivery.Oversees the coordination of governance tablesincluding the Regional Roundtableand provides secretariat support by managing logistics, preparing briefing materials, and developing supporting documentation such as issue logs, minutes, memoranda, decision notes, and reports.Manages the development, review, and administration of governance materials (e.g., project folios, decision notes, committee reports) and contributes to strategic advice, briefings, and updates for senior management.Provides leadership, coaching, and support to a direct report, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.Collaborates across the Community, Communications & Stakeholder Relations Division to support corporate priorities, crossfunctional initiatives, and transformational change efforts that strengthen alignment and stakeholder engagement practices.What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?Completion of a degree in Public Policy, Administration, Planning, Communications, Business or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalentDemonstrated senior leadership experience with responsible experience developing, delivering, facilitating, and managing consultation and engagement strategies with diverse stakeholders in the public and private sectorsLeadership skills, including interpersonal, tact, diplomacy, political acuity, and consensus building, coupled with the ability to provide guidance and experience in successfully build and maintain relationships to a diverse group of stakeholders Ability to balance workload on multi-disciplined projects and demonstrated ability to effectively motivate and lead staff,Project management principles and practices to lead and manage simultaneous projects to tight deadlines (i.e., development, project progress, related staff and project resources) and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines and project performance objectives.Knowledge of government policy and program development processes to participate fully in developing or vetting major policy initiatives submitted for senior level approval.Experience with negotiation, and consensus building, coupled with the ability to provide guidance to a diverse group of specialists, technical staff, and project consultants to accomplish the goals within established scope, schedule and budget.Strong conceptual, analytical, problem solving, management, communication, and administrative skills to direct the development of strategies and policies.Excellent interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills with strong attention to detail to communicate proposed policies and solutions through a variety of formats to several different audiences.Dont Meet Every Requirement?If youre excited about working with Metrolinx but your past experience doesnt quite align with every qualification of this posting, we encourage you to apply.
