As a member of the Culinary team, the Sous Chef will play an integral part in the success of our restaurant, bar, banquets, events and room service. Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships. Ensures recipes are accurately followed and maintain the highest quality standards. Coordinates with the culinary team, F&B Management and Events team to ensure a seamless guest experience, handle guest issues and take corrective actions when necessary. Monitors colleague morale and provides performance feedback and development. Ensures colleagues comply with food safety standards and maintain a high level of safety in the kitchens. Delegates appropriate duties and responsibilities to equipped and resourceful colleagues, nurturing and developing them through their career. Attends and contributes to all required meetings. Skills and Qualifications Passionate, highly skilled, positive, creative, empathetic and with a high attention to detail, excellence and continuous improvement. In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations with ability to work hands-on, developing and training new and innovative banquet & event menus. Desire to continually elevate Andaz Ottawas culinary experience. Proven culinary skills and knowledge with at least 2 years of Sous Chef or Chef De Cuisine experience in a hotel or high-end independent restaurant. Culinary education; Red Seal will be an asset. Highly self-motivated with a desire to learn, grow, continually improve and set an exceptional leadership example for colleagues. Full flexibility to work weekends, evenings, nights and holidays; ability to work long shifts and supervise all outlets. Smart Serve and Food Handler certification.
