This posting is for an existing and currently open position.General DescriptionThe EHS Advisor serves as a technical and strategic EHS support to the site on environment, health and safety matters. The position owns several core processes and critical controls and develops annual improvement plans to drive continuous improvement. The EHS Advisor conducts inspections, investigations, risk assessments and recommends appropriate risk mitigation measures.ResponsibilitiesAssist with the development and implementation of forward thinking EHS improvement programs, strategies and plans to deliver year over year improvements in EHS performance by working closely with internal and external stakeholders.Use area of expertise to influence staff at all levels of the organization and promote a positive EHS culture to achieve our zero-accident goal.Provide timely, high quality EHS technical support to the site. Offer expert EHS advice and guidance and assist in hazard identification, elimination and risk reduction in the areas of health, safety, environmental management and sustainability.Manage or support the response during incidents or emergency situations. Liaise with external regulators, investigate adverse events (problem-solving/RCAs), undertake after action reviews, develop remedial action plans and communicate learnings with relevant internal/external stakeholders.Support the site Risk Assessment Program by participating in or facilitating risk assessments (i.e.: workplace, environmental, chemical, ergonomic, machine safety and process safety risk assessments.)Support the Sites Management of Change Program by providing input, reviewing, approving and recommending changes that have an EHS impact.Identify EHS training needs, including legal requirements, and seek to provide that training through the creation of EHS Programs/SOPs, delivery of EHS training packages or through the use of specialized external consultants.Execute the EHS internal audit program to schedule, front internal/external auditors (i.e.: IBM, A&A, MoE, MoL, WSIB, Region of Peel, City of Mississauga) and ensure that any corrective actions arising from audits are implemented in a timely manner.Collect, analyze, and manage the reporting of EHS performance data to meet internal and external reporting requirements. Communicate group alerts. Shared learnings, legislative updates relevant to management.Manage risk associated with impact to air quality, wastewater, waste, soil and groundwater, environmental permits and reports of environmental performance data (internal and external).Be available to respond to security, environmental or health and safety issues and emergencies off hours, as required.QualificationsExperience and Skills:Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare manufacturing (min 5 years).Experience in managing/ advising on specific health and safety hazards or relevant to operations at a pharmaceutical manufacturing site.Excellent understanding of risk assessment, risk management and auditing techniques.Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.Ability to work with and influence a broad range of staff and management.Good problem-solving skills.Flexibility with an ability to manage own workload in a busy, rapidly changing environment.Exhibit the mindset and behaviors to effectively work within a small, dedicated team to support a high performing, new product introduction site.EducationRequired:Bachelors degree in relevant Engineering discipline, Environmental Sciences, Health and Safety or equivalent.Working ConditionsMixed of office and manufacturing environments.CompensationCompensation Range: $81,240 - $101,550Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidates qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and internal equity.
