MaKami team members are provided with many opportunities for professional career growth in a fulfilling and dynamic work environment.The MaKami team is passionate about creating generational change through education, and we provide the tools and a safe environment for our staff to change the lives of our students and their families.This position has primary responsibility for the development and delivery of individualized programs/strategies to students who require additional support to ensure they have the necessary tools to achieve academic success.Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):Develop and deliver individualized learning plans for students with a broad range of disabilities based on each students unique needs and learning style (i.e. study strategies, organizational strategies, time management, coping skills and other areas of need)Work closely with various departments to advocate for institutional accessibility improvements and resource allocation.Work with the instructional design team on initiatives related to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive education strategies.Liaison between Accessibility & Student Support Services, SAS, SALT, faculty, and external accessibility organizations to advocate for accessibility student supportsProvide faculty training and support to ensure an inclusive learning environment and effective accommodation implementation.Collaborate with various departments to enhance digital and physical accessibility on campus.Foster partnerships with community organizations to improve accessibility resources.Ensure students receive appropriate referrals and access to assistive technologies and learning resources.Develop initiatives to improve student services and success among those requiring accessibility services.Serve as a resource to the College on matters related to learning strategies for students with learning differencesDevelop and facilitate group workshops related to student accessibilityWork in collaboration with Learning Assistants, Instructors, and other staff as appropriate, providing training and support when needed for students with specific learning differencesAssist with additional tasks and special projects as assigned to support the operation of the departmentEducation and ExperienceDegree or diploma in Education, Accessibility Studies, Psychology or a related discipline requiredAdditional certification in Special Education preferred or a background in special educationMinimum 2-5 years of experience in post-secondary accessibility services, student support, or academic leadership roles.Proven ability to develop and lead accessibility initiatives at an institutional level.Proven ability to provide solution-focused interventionsKnowledge of assistive technologies, digital accessibility standards, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).Expertise in accessibility laws, funding programs, and accommodation best practices.Health Spending & Lifestyle AccountsEducational Allowance for Professional DevelopmentEmergency Allowance for Unexpected NeedsFree Massages at Our Student ClinicDiscounts on College Programs & CoursesStaff Discount in College StoreFree ParkingQualified candidates should reply to this ad with their cover letter and resume.
