We Are Looking for an Assistant Hotel Controller to Join Our Team! If you are a detail-oriented professional with a passion for numbers, leadership, and the hospitality industry, this job is perfect for you!As an Assistant Hotel Controller, you will play a key role in overseeing the financial health of our hotel, ensuring accuracy in reporting, compliance with regulations, and providing valuable insights to support operational and strategic decisions. This role involves managing financial statements, audits and cost control measures to maximize profitability while maintaining financial integrity. We commit to giving you the training, tools, support and feedback required to be successful; achieving excellence is up to you.Key FocusesOversee daily financial operations including:Review of daily sales journalsReview of Guest Ledger, City Ledger and Advance DepositsReview the coding of invoices and submission for paymentPrepare bank reconciliationsOversee the timely billing of account receivable as well as collection effortsOversee inventory management and finalise the monthend inventoriesResponsible for approving credit applications for the PropertyPrepare all journal entries, adhering to stipulated closing deadlines and schedulesPreparation of monthly P&L and balance sheetReconcile and monitor balance sheet accounts monthlyAssist with preparation of KPI reporting weekly such as cashflowAssist in the hiring, training, development, and motivation of the accounting teamAssist Corporate Controller with external auditors for annual audit/review engagements and any other reports or tasks as requiredBudget & Cost ControlDevelop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with department headsAssist with monthly forecast preparation to support nimble strategic decisionmakingMonitor revenue and expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savingsConduct variance analysis and provide recommendations for financial improvementsExperience/Passions/EducationStrong knowledge of LightSpeed, Micros and Sage300Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related fieldAbility to communicate effectively between all hotel departmentsAbility to work effectively within the designated timelineMinimum 3 years of accounting experience at a supervisory/managerial levelMinimum 2 years of accounting/finance in hospitalityAmazing Perks:Competitive wages and Health and Wellness benefit planPaid on-the-job training with additional learning opportunitiesGrowth and development opportunities, both personal and professionalPersonal days: 5 per year after 90 days (about 3 months) of continued full-time employmentMarriott Employee Travel programme provides you with discounted room rates and food and beverage discounts at any of Marriotts chain of hotelsPomeroy Stay Travel ProgrammeFood and Beverage discounts at the Botanicus Kitchen + BarWorking ConditionsAs a Hotel Controller, you will spend the majority of the time working business hours Monday to Friday.
