OverviewYour Opportunity: Applicants must have completed an accredited perioperative course to work in the operating room. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing perioperative patient care using the nursing process in accordance with CARNA, Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) and CSA Standards of practice. The RN will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub and circulating role as an integral part of the surgical team in both the Operating Room and Minor Surgery Clinic. The RN is responsible for providing safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite. The RN promotes the professional role and evaluates their own professional education and clinical practice standards. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The RN will practice using evidence-based measures and outcomes. The RN is a patient advocate and provides a link between the unit and the Operating Room and/or Minor Surgery Clinic Unit. The RN draws on a unique body of nursing knowledge.
