With facilities in Calgary Canada, Coburg Oregon, and Phoenix Arizona, APEL Extrusions is a fully integrated extruder with six extrusion presses, (2 in Calgary and 3 in Oregon and 1 in Phoenix) and a full array of finishing capabilities occupying over 600,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space employing approximately 400 people.Job SummaryAPEL Extrusions has an immediate requirement for a qualified Human Resources Manager in its Calgary, Alberta facility.Reporting to the Plant Manager, the HR Manager serves as a key member of APELs Management Team and is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support throughout the employee life cycle. This role partners with plant leadership to implement HR strategies, support workforce planning, maintain compliance, and foster a positive, engaging, and productive work environment.In addition to plant related HR responsibilities, the HR Manager will work with other facility HR Managers and APELs Leadership Team to create, develop and implement corporate HR Initiatives across APELs North American Operations.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEfficiently and accurately work with managers and payroll administration to compile the bi-weekly payroll information for nonexempt, hourly employees and salaried employees.Complete HR transactions in HRMS (ADP) and other systems.Support recruitment activities, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates.Maintain and update personnel files to ensure documentation is complete and compliant.Administer Benefits for both Hourly and Salaried personnelFacilitate onboarding and orientation for new hires.Develop and improve HR policies and employee engagement programs.Maintain vacation schedules and accruals for both salary and hourly employeesConduct workplace investigations and make recommendations for resolution.Participate in the APEL Workplace Health and Safety CommitteeAssist in the administration of APELs Collective Agreement and Union relationsPrepare HR reports including headcount, turnover, and attendance.Manage the WCB process and return to work requirements.Assist with policy development, communications, and training programs.Ensure HR availability for all shifts, including occasional support for offshift employees.Assist Managers in disciplinary actions and grievance procedure documentationSupport employees in areas of: Employee Assistance Program, Training, Return to Work ProgramsLead or participate in both Plant and Corporate HR projects that support business objectives.Provide HR support to other locations as needed.Qualifications & CompetenciesThe ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in Human Resource Management coupled with at least 3 years of payroll, WCB, and benefits administration experienceA Certified Human Resources Professional (C.H.R.P.) designation or progress towards this certification would be a decided asset.Training and or accreditation with the Canadian Payroll AssociationStrong skills with Microsoft Office suite of products particularly Excel and Microsoft WordExperience in Disability Management, Loss Control, Incident Investigation and working with the Workmens Compensation BoardStrong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.Ability to build strong relationships and credibility with employees at all levels.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly.Experience within the Manufacturing industry is a decided asset.TravelPeriodic (quarterly) travel to APELs US operations should be expected.CompensationExcellent remuneration and benefits package commensurate with experienceContactPlease email resumes to .
