The Caf Lead will also be available to assist with food & beverage preparation and customer service. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that food safety regulations are adhered to. As a part of The Mustard Seeds Ogden Hub:29, the Caf Lead will also work with other departments to explore and implement opportunities for the caf to supplement client and resident programming. Position Type: 6 month contract, 32 hours a weekSchedule: Tuesday to Friday at 10:30am-5pm / Saturday 11-5pm; occasional late evening.Location: Calgary, ABNumber of Positions: 1 Major Duties and Responsibilities Prepare work schedules for staff; find replacements in cases of staff sickness or absence, and cover for staff if no replacement found. Maintain supplier and partner relationships. Expand meat and beverage menus including seasonal items. Explore and facilitate opportunities for the caf to be a hub of community activity (e.g. art or music nights). Manage inventory; pick up or order necessary supplies. Set and maintain standards in customer service, quality control, food safety, and caf cleanliness. Ensure that all caf expenses are within budget; identify ways to decrease operational costs. Perform sales settlement at the end of every shift; regularly make bank deposits. Listen and respond to guests complaints, making sure they are dealt with appropriately. Abide by all Health and Safety protocols and procedures (ex. incident reports, near misses), and mandatory training courses (NVCI, safeTalk, First Aid). Required to abide by all Health & Safety protocols including completing a report for all incidents that occur, including near misses, in a timely manner. Other duties as may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications and Skills Postsecondary diploma relating to Business, Hospitality, or Food Service is an asset. Minimum of two years experience working in the Food Service industry, preferably in a coffee shop. Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and conflict resolution skills. Front line experience working directly with vulnerable groups, such as individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, mental illness, addiction, and Canadian newcomers is an asset. Demonstrated ability to engage, communicate, and work effectively with a diverse range of people from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Experienced with developing creative solutions to complex challenges and problems. Valid Alberta Health Services Food Safe certificate. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Valid Driver's License (Class 5) and access to a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance. Working Conditions Physical effort: moderate amounts of walking, climbing, standing, sitting, lifting, and carrying. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Evening and Saturday shifts are expected.
