The Position We are seeking a Junior Mortgage Underwriter to support the underwriting and execution of a growing volume of mortgage transactions. This role is ideal for an underwriter who has foundational experience in B-lending or private mortgages and is looking to deepen technical skills while working in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment. You will be involved in underwriting deal submissions, communicating with brokers, and coordinating closings with funding and legal partners. Success in this role is measured by underwriting quality, turnaround time, attention to detail, and service to brokers. What Success Looks Like Accurate, well-reasoned underwriting decisions Efficient turnaround on deal submissions Strong broker relationships built on trust and responsiveness Smooth coordination through to closing Consistent attention to detail and documentation quality Responsibilities Review and underwrite mortgage submissions in accordance with internal guidelines Analyze credit reports, appraisals, and supporting documentation Communicate with brokers from submission through closing Coordinate with funding teams and external legal partners to support timely closings Provide underwriting and execution support to Business Development Managers Manage a steady pipeline of files while meeting target timelines Identify issues early and propose practical solutions Ideal Candidate Minimum 2 years'' experience in B-lending or private mortgage underwriting Strong understanding of mortgage documentation, credit analysis, and risk assessment Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Experience with Mortgage Automator is an asset Holds or is willing to obtain an active Mortgage Agent license Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working under deadlines Strong communication skills with a client-service mindset Interest in technology, automation, and process improvement Why Should You Apply?
