Position Overview Performs a variety of duties including retrieving and filing of patient''s records/reports, and accessing and/or updating via the computer system. Answers telephone and over-the-counter enquiries for charts and information. Assembling and processing of patient health records for discharged patients in prescribed order and files reports in the appropriate patient file. Experience Experience in a health care facility or physician''s office preferred. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Grade 12 education. Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology. Certification/Licensure/Registration Not Applicable Qualifications and Skills Working knowledge of computers and demonstrated keyboarding skills. Ability to file accurately. Neat, legible penmanship. Demonstrated understanding of the terminal digit filing system. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements Physical strength to lift filing materials. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment. Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
