Job Description

Position Summary: Ensure that all products leaving Sofina Foods facilities meet the highest standards of food safety and quality and are in regulatory compliance. The incumbent is responsible for supervising the team of Quality Assurance technicians. Key Responsibilities: Develop, motivate, and provide leadership to the QA. Technicians: provide training on new policies, procedures, documents, and specifications, as required. Develop and administer policies to assure safety and quality of products. Assure Sofina products meet or exceed government, company, and customer requirements. Verify that required HACCP and Pre-requisite tasks are as per the written program. Continuous review of operations processes to ensure conformity with applicable government regulations and specifications. Develop production specifications based on approved customer specifications. Update raw material specifications when needed. Encourage and sustain a proactive approach to continuous product quality improvement. Supervise laboratory facilities and direct testing and monitoring functions. Provide technical information and assistance to other departments, in particular production. Investigate customer/consumer complaints in a thorough and timely manner; identify and resolve any reoccurring patterns of complaints. Authorize the disposition of product that does not meet required food safety, quality, or regulatory standards. Identify food safety and quality trends and take corrective action as needed. Maintain and update the Allergen list for raw materials, dry ingredients, and work-in-progress products. Provide and/or organize the necessary QA support during plant trials. Key contact for CFIA Inspectors Other relevant duties as assigned. Qualifications: Diploma or Degree in Food Science or related field (or equivalent experience) Minimum 3 years of Quality Assurance/Quality Control Supervisory experience in food manufacturing Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook Experience in fish and meat processing is an asset. Highly organized and detail oriented and a good team player Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Working in unionized settings is an advantage Willing to work flexible hours. Hiring Range: CAD $64,393 - $92,082 Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus up to 8% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions. Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity. This position is currently an active vacancy.
