POSITION TITLE: RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TYPE OF POSITION: PART-TIME (Jan-July) FULL-TIME (Aug-Dec) - REQUIRES FLEXIBLE HOURS Minimum 1 YEAR CONTRACT POSITION SUMMARY: Provides a leadership role in the management of the Resource Development and Communication programs at the United Way. This involves establishing and leveraging relationships with key businesses, individuals and groups to participate in the annual United Way campaign. COMPENSATION STRUCTURE: RRSP plan with employer matching Paid sick/personal days Extended health benefits KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Resource Development Provide a leadership role in the annual fundraising campaign, major and planned gifts,and special event fundraisers. Ensuring plans and resources are developed and implemented to achieve campaign goals. Cultivate relationships within all accounts, organize and manage workplace campaigns to encourage increased participation within all accounts, maximizing potential and reaching desired goals. Establish donor relationships with individuals and organizations, including prospecting with non-giving accounts and making cold calls. Facilitate board committee and/or volunteer meetings related to fund development. Recruit and train Campaign Volunteers, ensuring they conduct themselves in a professional manner consistent with United Way philosophies. Oversee the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to foundations and other sources. Marketing and Communications Develop and implement a media relations plan to enhance brand visibility and reach new audiences. Act as a spokesperson for United Way. Develop and implement digital campaigns to engage target audiences, drive website traffic, and increase online presence. Design copy media e.g., media releases, newsletters, speaking notes, social media, and video production. Identify and solicit potential sponsors and gift-in-kind with interests related to marketing and communications strategies. Develop and implement marketing, media relations and communication strategies that align with United Way''s mission, vision, and goals. Planning and Innovation Establish agreed-upon and realistic annual and long-term measurable goals. Effectively work with the Executive Director, United Way Board members, and Campaign volunteers to implement new and creative strategies for workplace campaigns to support United Way goals. Other Duties Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the Resource Development portfolio and organizational goals. Duties may evolve over time based on organizational needs. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor''s degree or College Diploma in Business, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills Highly developed technical and analytical skills with ability to use expert level judgement for strategic thinking and problem solving A strong commitment to our local community and improving the lives of others Team player with the ability to work with United Way senior management to achieve organizational goals Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to develop and execute communications tactics to reach diverse audiences across multiple channels Strong computer and technology skills Creative, innovative and strategic thinker Experience in the not-for-profit and/or public sector environments an asset Ability to perform with minimal supervision Must be respectful of confidentiality and of other requirements inherent within the role of representing the United Way, both at work and away A valid driver''s license and access to a reliable vehicle with valid insurance for agency business is required Must pass a background check WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work in an office utilizing a variety of software systems, both cloud and server based Attend meetings and events throughout Lambton County Typical hours are Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm but must also be able to work a flexible schedule as required Position is flexible to coordinate with current commitments and also has ability to work some remote hours if required outside of peak season This position offers opportunities for advancement and long-term career growth within the organization Application Procedure Qualified applicants are asked to submit a cover letter and resume outlining qualifications by February 25, 2026.
