Company Description The Nova Scotia Regulator of Dentistry and Dental Assisting (NSRDDA) is the provincial regulatory authority responsible for protecting the public interest in matters related to the delivery of dental care. We do this by ensuring dentists and dental assistants provide safe, competent, and ethical care. One of the ways the NSRDDA fulfills its public protection role is by investigating complaints. We are seeking a Complaints and Investigations Coordinator to join our team in Bedford, Nova Scotia for this in-person position. This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) with an annual salary range of $65-70,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Consideration would possibly be given to a proposal for an 80% position with proration of salary and benefits. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. Position Overview Reporting to the Registrar, the Complaints and Investigations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the complaint investigation process. Specific Tasks Include: Fielding inquiries from members of the public regarding the NSRDDA complaint process. Assisting potential complainants in determining whether the complaint process is the appropriate route to address their concerns. Supporting complainants in navigating the complaint process. Initial processing of complaints once submitted. In conjunction with the Registrar, preparation of correspondence related to various stages of the complaint process. Tracking cases throughout the complaint process, using our database, and assisting the Registrar with meeting NSRDDA-established timeline targets for communications and other actions. Digital organization of documentation related to complaints. Coordination of availability surveys and meetings for members of the Complaints Committee. Collation and dissemination of document packages for Complaints Committee members. Co-ordination of complaint-related matters with NSRDDA legal counsel. Assisting the Registrar with the preparation of complaint data reports. These processes are carried out in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and associated Regulations, as well Bylaws and Practice Standards established by the NSRDDA. This role requires sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to fairness and transparency. Other Responsibilities Cross-training in other key regulatory functions (e.g., registration and licensing). Supporting the Registrar and other staff as needs are identified. Qualifications and Attributes Post-secondary education in any field with demonstrated relevant skills (e.g., administration, healthcare, public health, regulation, policy, education, law). Minimum of 3 years of experience in their field. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey information clearly, diplomatically, and within defined parameters. High attention to detail and accuracy. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Microsoft Office and database management: intermediate proficiency or higher.
